Look, is a vagina mouthed Megatron and some bad voice casting really enough to keep you from watching Transformers?

Did I just answer my own question?

I knew someone would eventually utter that sentence. Someone somewhere owes me $50. It sure pays to be prepared.  ;)

I'm going to go see this in theatres for the same reason I'm going to go see Live Free or Die Hard.  It just looks so over the top that it will actually end up being fun.

I can't believe I just said a Michael Bay movie not called "The Rock" will be fun.  :-",

Yes, it is enough to keep me away just like the Leno chinned 'Zilla should have kept me away from the theaters several years back thereby alleviating a decade of emnity for everyone involved in that travesty that's still been going strong to this day. I'll be watching my G1 tapes just to revel in Welker's much better looking, less Freudian Megatron.
Being a genocidal maniac is not one of my turn ons.

Is it weird to hear the Safety Dance in my head watching Game of Thrones?

So far all of the reviews have been extremely positive. Apparently there was a screening in Australia (I think?) with Bay and co., they had literally just finished the movie. Anyways, word of mouth so far is extremely positive.

I was a fan of G1, as I've made clear in this thread earlier... but I dunno. Call me crazy, but I don't mind that they've changed the way things looked, and cast different actors. The G1 cartoons will always be around, and unlike the Godzilla remake, this one actually has some talented people behind it. Sure, Michael Bay is extremely hit-and-miss (I pretty much loathe Armageddon), I'm willing to give this movie a chance, unlike the majority of G1 purists.

And on that note - the cartoon Megatron was "better looking?" I disagree. I'd rather NOT see what amounts to a stack of boxes on a big screen in a live action movie. It's fine if it's the '86 movie, because, well. ... it was a cartoon movie. But imagine what a G1 Megatron would look like if it were realized in a live setting? It would look terrible. To each their own, but the people who refuse to acknowledge that fact are just kidding themselves.

If you don't like the look of the characters don't watch the movie.  But don't judge it before you see it.  Like I said in my post about the game, watch the cinematics because they show way more than the trailer does.  The characters look great and are very fluid and smooth.  In all seriousness, this movie will set the bar for visual effects in movies to come.  If you want an intellectual thought provoking movie, this is not your movie.  But if you want an exciting action/effects heavy movie, you probably won't be dissapointed.  I will be watching this movie, I dont care, I like big exciting movies like this cuz they make me forget about the bordom and monotomy of my life.  People just need to get over the fact that even though Peter Cullen is voicing Optimus Prime, this is not a G1 movie.  These are different characters.  Get over it, they have been bastardizing G1 since the abomination of Beast Wars.  I dont care if Beast Wars was a good show or not.

I was bieng threated with death by wolf raping before it was cool!.

It is funny- I want to see the movie, but I have no idea what you people are talking about. Is G1 Generation 1? Who is David Muchullen, and what is so bad about him?

G1 is Generation 1.  Basically the original Transformers from back in the 80s before all the other variations came out.

I was never really into Transformers as a kid so I have no idea who David Muchullen is.

All I could find by his name was a DJ. Could make for an interesting Megatron, but a better Beatbox. (Is that the tape recorder Transformer?)

Pak-Man

Well me and Tyrant have entered every contest in the book to win sneak-peek passes for a showing on Thursday, and seeing as how it's nearly impossible to LOSE contests for sneak-peek showings (Since they give out about 1000 more tickets than there are seats) I think we have a good chance of getting in. We're planning on playing hooky from work and showing up about 5 hours early to ensure our passes actually get us in, and if we make it, we'll be sure to spread the word on the movie from the perspective of a couple who (I kid you not) met online on a Transformers MUSH, met in person for the first time at a Botcon, and would possibly consider having a child, if only to dress him/her in THIS:

We'll let everyone know what we think. :^)

By the way, I checked out Yahoo Movies to see some of the new Transformers pics, and I was able to verify an earlier observation:
When two TF are in the same picture, I can't tell where one ends and the other begins. It just looks like a blur of shiny metal bits. Suppose we're gonna have this problem in the movie?

Ya know, I'm suddenly reminded of the mid-90's, when some people bagged on the film Mars Attacks! because it wasn't "true to the spirit" of the collectible cards.

Seriously; saying you won't go see it solely because they didn't cast your preferred voice actors from a decades-old cartoon series *cough*glorified toy commercial*cough* would be like me refusing to see Batman Begins because they didn't cast Kevin Conroy (who, to my ears, IS Batman) in the title role. Or like those nincompoops (mostly morning-show radio jocks, for some reason) in the late 80's who were genuinely upset that Adam West (who was already pushing sixty) wasn't cast as the lead in 1989's Batman. Or that one guy I knew who was really put out that Tom Welling wasn't cast as the lead in Superman Returns...

Have to agree with you there, gbeenie. Pak and I were going to see this thing the instant they announced they were making it before they ever announced Cullen was even on board. It's a nice bonus and I love that they thought of us down at the production studio (aawww...) but I know we're merely lucky as G1 fans, not entitled. We're damn fortunate to have our beloved series even considered worthy (and $$$ enough) to warrant a big budget summer movie to begin with. I'm amazed how often I have to make this point to my fellow Transfans.

We want to see giant robots pounding the snot out of each other on the big screen and that's exactly what we're going to get. If we want something deeper character-wise, we'll break out the comics. If we want our old G1 theme back, we'll crank out the cartoon DVDs and toys. Yeesh. It's just a movie.

But what happened to Soundwave?

The record companies didn't think CDs would have such an immediate, and disastrous, effect on cassette sales. Poor Soundwave.
