You know, I'm not wholly certain I really want to see this movie. How can I be sure what I've seen so far from the movie aren't the best parts and that in between the action are long stretches of tedium like in GINO (Godzilla In Name Only)?

I call it Fraudzilla.

In the latest Godzilla movie, Final Wars, it's referred to as "Zilla", apparently because one of the Toho guys felt that they took the "God" out of "Godzilla". Funny enough, it gets the crap kicked out if it by one swat of the real Godzilla's tail. Good times.

Um, it's a Michael Bay movie. It's safe to assume that it will start with a big action scene, followed by 15 minutes of hamfisted, unrealistic exposition - probably wherein some authority figures witness or watch footage of another action scene, then one of them very dramatically says "My God" under his breath - another big action scene, 10 minutes of schmaltzy, manipulative melodrama, a good 45 minutes of action, and 15 minutes of credits.

Again, then- Good times.

Shia Lebouf was on leno the other night, and the clip from the movie that they played was pretty funny =)
(For any of you who saw the interview, Shia doesn't know how to drink scotch....)

You guys go ahead and spend your $10 to see this in the theaters. I am going to sit at home after getting my netflix rental and enjoy this:

Nope. You can't make me watch this movie at all, no matter what anyone says. I was suckered into watching Fraudzilla, GINO, Goshzilla, whatever you want to call it. You are not getting me to watch this Giant Robot Movie with the Transformer named tacked onto it. The only way you will getme to watch this movie is if Mike Nelson and pals (Preferably Bill Corbett and Kevin Murphy) do a scathing Rifftrax for it. I'll have more fun messing around with my Optimus Prime sim for my Sims 2 game.
Being a genocidal maniac is not one of my turn ons.

Is it weird to hear the Safety Dance in my head watching Game of Thrones?

Junkyard

Wow. I honestly didn't expect you not to at least want to check this one out, Lady D. Not to belittle Transsformers, but, uh, how do you mess up a Transformers movie? (Besides getting Miceal Bay to direct, of course?)
Honestly, no joke or whatever- what elements should be in a good TF movie?
Not being a huge fan, I expect
Giant Robots
With Personalities
Who have Big Fights
In a Cohesive Plot.

Beyond that I'm forgiving.

Considering they turned Megatron into a spiky looking thing with a mouth that resembles a certain part of the female anatomy as well as not cast Frank Welker, the man who originated and created the character's basic personality, I don't see any reason to see this movie, not even Cullen as Optimus Prime. I can just pop in my Animated movie DVd or watch G1 episodes for that. Frankly I'd prefer doing that than sitting through 2 hours or so of torture without Mike and friends there to guide me through the darkness and into the light.

Look, is a vagina mouthed Megatron and some bad voice casting really enough to keep you from watching Transformers?

Did I just answer my own question?

I don't entirely approve of the design of the bots, but I understand why they went in this direction. I think Megatron looks pretty cool, although I don't understand why he has teeth. Sure, they make him look scarier, but I'm pretty sure he doesn't eat.

As for voice acting, I'll reserve judgment on Hugo Weaving 'til I see the movie, but I think not using Frank Welker is a good choice. His Megatron is really cartoony. If Chris Latta were alive, people would be bitching about Starscream too, but he'd be wrong, as well.
