Oh Audio! What's a theatre to do?

Hey all -

Looking for ideas of how to approach theatre staff / management on how to go about fixing audio for their RiffTrax Live viewings. Mostly looking for success stories of people that had good viewing experiences or were able to take action to get things fixed. For last night's Starship Troopers event, I felt like if I had only been able to talk in "movie-theater" language we would have been able to find a solution.

Anyone have any words of advice, tricks or tips?

From what I'm hearing, just about everyone had problems with the audio mix except for the people who were actually at the Belcourt in Nashville.  I think the root cause was at Rifftrax's end.

Yeah, except for isolated cases, the movie itself was just a bit too loud. That's generally not the case for the Live events, but it was this time.

For the isolated cases though (some theaters didn't turn on the pre-show audio, others had cut-outs mid movie, still others had all the volume level too low), just find an employee and explain the issue. As a former theater employee, I'll just note that behind the scenes, we used basically the same terminology as everyone else. "Theater 2 is too dark." "Four is too quiet."

I'm not sure why they can't just do the audio ducking that they do on the VODs live. It's a pretty straight forward technology.  Every DJ in a dance club can do it.
