The VOD's are great, but...

Mccbain and The Apple are some of my favorite Rifftrax commentaries ever, but I still can't help wondering when they're going to produce another mp3 blockbuster-style riff (waiting with bated breath for a DEATHLY HALLOWS Riff). Does anyone elfe feel the same, or am I the only one here?

You're definitely not the only one... There's about 48 other threads on the issue!

While I love the VOD's my favorites have always been the MP3 commentary's. Allot of people I refer to Rifftrax don't like the inconvenience of syncing the MP3 with a DVD and that probably represents the feeling of many of the less hardcore Rifftrax fans. It would be interesting to see some of their sales figures in regards to VOD vs. MP3, I wouldn't be surprised it VOD's made a great deal more fiscal sense for the team to do.

The best hope for the future of blockbuster riffing, it seems to me, is funny people with day jobs who make iRiffs for enjoyment and not as their primary source of income.

Or that they are still doing it YEARS from now when licensing those titles are affordable!  >:D

I don't really see the guys finally getting around to riffing Battleship when they are septuagenarians, but, maybe.

Hey, if Statler and Waldorf did it . . .

Yeah, but I always feel kind of sorry for the guys when they do so many movies that are more or less crap in a row. I read somewhere during an interview (I think it was Mike who said it) that a movie is watched a total of around nine to ten times before they do the actual riffing (my deepest respect/sympathies for them covering 'movies' like The Happening, The Room, and Battlefield Earth), so you'd think the guys would want to keep themselves sane by doing a movie that dosen't make you want to give up on films alltogether.

Again, I'm not saying I hate the VOD's or anything, but another blockbuster like Star Trek: ainto Darkness or maybe the upcoming Superman movie would be welcomed wholeheartedly.

On the one hand, I get the desire to have them to finish the Harry Potter movies and give us a complete set... But honestly, those films were getting so repetitive, they were wearing me down after about the fourth or fifth, and I can't imagine I'd get the same amount of fun from another HP riff that I have been from the new VODs.

Toyland Chairman

Seems that now they have a library of VOD titles thanks the studios, it seems unlikely they'll get around to big blockbusters again.

But maybe they can get their hands on TROLL, the pre-Harry Potter HARRY POTTER movie.

We can always hope for mp3s in the future. But I've mostly given up hope. Sad all these suggestions are for nothing, unless it's VOD quality stuff. I have to admit, I only liked half the MST3K episodes enough to watch a second time. It was fun to watch half of them once for the novelty of it, but hardly more than that. Bad movies are bad, and when we feel sorry for the guys having to put up with them 9 or 10 times for a riff, I feel the same way watching some of them with the riff. We've gone back the MST3K model, which is fine with me when I can watch them on tv for free with. I'm not paying money for them. Let me watch them with commercials, and I'll gladly spend the time.

Now that I'd happily go along with - streaming with commercials, a la Hulu. Not sure if they'd be interested or not, since the money-making potential may not be all that much. I just can't afford these VODs at $10 a pop, though.

I'm guessing we'll see another Hunger Games though it's not quite the laugh bonanza Twilight was. But two mp3's a year?--that's fine with me.

It'd be nice if the guys could come out with something on Hulu or Netflix or even Crackle. Streaming these things with commercials because I'm just not buying any more. Yeah, I know the guys are making more money with this money, so that's awesome. But just like Just-The-Trax wrote, where I was tolerant about spending $3-$4 on something I didn't care for, it hurts to spend $10 on something that sucks. Yes, sometimes the riffs just suck, whether it's because the movie itself was boring, the riff didn't suit my taste, or some other reason, it happens. I can think of dozens of movies that came out in the last 2 years that I believe fit the formulas for awesome riffs. I will never get them with only 2 mp3s a year, especially considering the riffs of movies I don't want to see or have no interest in seeing that have happened in the past (Karate Kid 3 and Rise of the Planet of the Apes, I'm looking at you).

Man, I wish there were MORE riffs like Karate Kid 3.  God, I love the 80s and 90s cheese.  Happily, they seem to be getting some of that stuff on VOD now.

Right there with you but unfortunately KK3 tanked hard!! I love it when they call back to it and I know that most people have no idea what they are referencing!

Since I'm only interested in MP3s I haven't bought anything here since March. I was pissed off for a long time but I do get the business side of things so while it sucks it is what it is. At least the live show is a blockbuster movie so that's something.
