The horse skid seems to be intentionally bad, so it's kinda cool.   ;D

Blade 2 and the Mummy Returns had some pretty ropey CGI in them.

Yeah, but that's also because they had so many freakin' shots to finish that some of them got farmed out to other effects houses and the quality dropped. Blade 2 especially had some shots which were fantastic (the reapers' faces) and then some that were just laughable (Blade's digital stunt double).

Yeah, Blades digital double wasn't that good but it paved the way for the digital Spider-Man, wich was pretty sweet.

I was bieng threated with death by wolf raping before it was cool!.

I don't see what difference this makes, if the films budget only stretches to certain levels of CGI then so what?

That doesn't mean anything either.  Whether it's 100 million dollar movie or a 10 million dollar movie, bad CGI is bad CGI.  The reason I quite liked the horse skid was that it (to me at least) intentionally draws its awfulness to the viewer.  It's not trying to be cool or flashy.

I read that too, and I specifically said "some" CGI effects, not all of them.  The thing I don't get is the Scorpion King at the end of the Mummy Returns: It's the climax of the movie, something meant to top everything else that has come before it, and yet it's a spectacular let-down.

Compound

Ahem. The plane cockpit in "Plan 9 from Outer Space." Followed closely by Ed Wood's octopus.

I think the Rock/Scorpion thing was awful.  I may stand corrected on the Air Force One plane crash being the worst.  But it is my standard for terrible CGI.

how did north by northwest even get into this thread??!!!!!!??

BathTub

Yeah I say The Scorpion King because it was ILM, it wasn't 2$ budget Ed Woods stuff, this was big name flick, big name studio and it was complete ass.

its a classic.  damned good acting, interesting plot, some of the most famous shots in movie history.  Yeah some of it looks a little dated but its hardly "bad"

Maybe he's one of those "Time is relative" guys who thinks that everything is happening all at once and should be held up to todays film making standards.  Just a thought.

sarcasm_made_Easy

time is happening all at once but we cant perceive it that way so its irrelavent.

the long undertow

The scene that stands out most in my mind is in Spiderman when Peter is discovering his powers and he's jumping from rooftop to rooftop.  The motions are so exagerated it just kills the moment.  It happens in lots of the current superhero movies.  I can't wait until they can portray humans in CGI without it looking all fakey.

That's why my vote is, "Closeups of stormtroopers in Ep II."  Geroge.  How much would it cost to put a SAG member in a suit for a day?

Lady Kitsch

The climax to Congo, a terrible movie that would make for a great Rifftrax, features some truly horrible CGI lava effects.  The color and texture of the lava are way off and the scene is already a spectacularly stupid one involving killer gorillas.
