This movie was barely on my radar. But this trailer...wow! That Hans Zimmer score is amazing. Getting to see all of these actors in character. Maybe the best part, the trailer doesn't spoil anything. Genuinely looking forward to it now. I could see this one trailer being a total game-changer for the summer box office.

I have a tough time getting excited for this.  Superman Returns had an amazing trailer as well.

Then the film came out...

I don't think I can accurately describe seeing that Returns trailer for the first time and hearing the Williams music through a theater sound system. Goosebumps.

I honest to God think this movie is gonna be awesome. It's gonna be hard to top The Amazing Spider-Man or The Dark Knight, but I think it has a shot.

I'm just hoing that it's fun. With Zack Snyder at the helm I think it will be. But I do think it's a mistake after the dull Superman Returns for the advertising to be anything other than "This time it will be fun, we promise."

Zack Snyder was very successful in making something incredibly deep and heavy into something super awesome and fun. I know I'm alone on these next two points, but a) Adrian's weapon in the film makes much more sense than his weapon in the book, and b) FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! WE DID NOT NEED TO SEE JON'S BIG BLUE FLOPPING DING DONG EVERY TIME WE SAW HIM!

/Watchmen.

Also: Bryan Singer is a fantastic film maker. One of the greats, no doubt. But he really didn't bring the comics sensibility to his Superman movie. I mean, yeah, there was a fantastic comics sensibility with X-Men, but it was completely absent in Superman Returns. It's kinda baffling, because we know he knows how to do it right. I think Singer is at his best, though, with projects like Apt Pupil, Usual Suspects and (to a lesser degree) House.

Gah! 2 hours and 23 minutes (presumably including credits). *sigh* Why do so many blockbusters these days have to be so goddamn long?

Sugar Ray Dodge

At least it isn't Lord of the Rings or The Ten Commandments sort of long.
