QuoteGary Kubiak fired by Texans after 11th straight loss

December 6, 2013, 12:15 PM EST

AP
It's now official.

Jay Glazer of FOX Sports has reported that the Texans have fired coach Gary Kubiak, who is expected at a press conference soon.

Kubiak has already told his assistants he has been fired.

The 52-year-old Kubiak built the Texans gradually into a contender, and won 22 games the previous two seasons.

But things bottomed out this year, and last night's 11th-straight loss dropped him to 61-64 all-time as a head coach.

He has been a terrible coach for 8 years now.......WAY to late in happening.

I am guessing they will do the recycle the coach game plan and Lovie Smith will be their next coach.

Their "super great defense" is terrible.  I think they have the least amount of turnovers in the league and everyone scores over 30 points against them.

They need to START OVER......as all Houston teams must always do all the time.

Poor state!   ;D

QuoteRon Rivera files to trademark 'Riverboat Ron' moniker

Ron Rivera can't fight it anymore.

Battista: Carolina's confidence boost

In her Week 14 primer, Judy Battista digs deeper into the Panthers' eight-game win streak. Plus, 10 more subplots to follow. READ
The Carolina Panthers head coach realizes "Calculated Risk-Taker Ron" and "Analytical Ron" simply won't cut it. Just as Jon Hamm is Don Draper and Ted Danson is Sam Malone, Ron Rivera is now -- and forever will be -- Riverboat Ron.

After a fair bit of resistance, Rivera has finally come around on the moniker that raised his visibility tenfold while the Panthers have surged in the standings.

According to The Charlotte Observer, Rivera's attorney filed paperwork last month to trademark "Riverboat Ron" under trademark owner Coach Rivera LLC. Asked if he made a trademark attempt, Rivera said it wasn't "a bad idea."

(You sly aqua vessel operator, you!)

"We're trying to figure it out and it's out there and people have kind of jumped onto it so I figured what the heck," Rivera said of giving in to Riverboat Ron. "If it's going to be out there then let's see if we can do something in the community with it."

"We'll figure something out," he added. "They're all worthwhile causes and we really want to see if we can help out in the community."

Sounds good to us. While we're here, kudos to ATL colleague Chris Wesseling, who might have originated (or at least heavily inspired) the Riverboat Ron nickname way back in mid-October.

We eagerly anticipate the bitter legal entanglement between everyman Wess and a wealthy NFL coach. Surely this will end well for all parties involved.

Pathetic...   C
This nickname is like a month and a half old ??? I don't find it catchy in any way!  >:(
He can file this trademark BS when the season is over IMO ::)

Bob

He thinks this nickname will make him money?

He should learn to coach first.

If he returns to his previous coaching ways, we'll send his Riverboat ass up the creek without any paddles!  >:(

I'm 15 miles south of the stadium and can only see about the length of a football field out my window.  It's a very fine snow so not accumulating that fast but visibility is crap.

k1

No snow in the Pats game. And what an ending.
