In defense of the super-glove

Whenever Tucker used the glove for strength (i.e., to keep a car from moving, punch through a door, etc.), it appears to be B.S. because his whole body would have to be involved (without leverage, the glove is useless for such things). As Kevin said at one point: "Go to Hell, Physics".

HOWEVER, the glove clearly has some sort of non-rocket propulsion device. This is apparent when it flies through the air. This propulsion must be able to generate a good amount of force, judging from when it was used remotely to punch some guy in the gut. Coupled with a software controller that could detect what Tucker was trying to use it for, it could conceivably perform the tasks shown.

What is the propulsion device that could accomplish this? Ummmm... Hey! Look over there!

So why even attach it to his own body, I wanna know.

Lalalalalala I can't hear you

If true, since it is the future now apparently, I want either Ruger or Glock to sell these now!

I'll be first in line.

Didn't you see Spaceballs?  Even in the future, nothing works.

The glove thing doesn't make sense, no sense whatsoever.  It's a literal plot device to give our "hero" and way to save the day as he nears the end of his arc. (Traditionally when a hero fights a bad guy he's SUPPOSED to get his but handed to him, overcome the odds and then come out victorious when he finds his second wind.)  But here we have Tucker who gets beaten down and then just presses a button to get his magic glove to help him out. (Most horribly in the first movie where the glove actually does ALL of the work!)

The glove isn't given any real explanation, it's not like a lot of people have them to imply its a common device in his field. He just... has it.  THEN it's not like he uses it all that much! In the first movie he uses it in the beginning of the movie's action scene, then a bit to catch hot news lady and then sort of at the end when he uses it to beat up Curly.

The second movie? The glove is used at the beginning for the action scene and then disappears off the map until the action scene at the end.  The glove serves NO POINT!  Why is it there?! Why David Carridene? Why?!

Sorry... Mr. Carradine is tied up right now.

Speaking from my own experience as a writer, I strongly suspect the glove is there in both movies to further accentuate the fact that it's "the future" . . . while being really, really cheap. Without the glove, there aren't many visual cues at all that indicate "this is future spaceman-type stuff." And, as far as effects go, it's inexpensive to tape a glove to the front of a camera and have it fly around.

It's about as effective as it is convincing (which is to say, "not very"), but I think that's the logic.

Well, yeah that's about the only point of the glove, to sell the idea that it's "the future" since very little else in the movie does it.  But the glove doesn't serve that role very well.
