Windows 7 Problems: HELP! (Please.)

While I am currently having difficulties with a reinstall from scratch [the previous one had most common stuff done by Dell], I figured a thread for people helping others with Win7 difficulties would likely be helpful to more than just me.

So let me test this thread out.  The first thing I want to know is: does anyone know how to fix something with the desktop where the cursor can go off the right edge of the screen and, for instance, if one goes 'two trackball spins' past the edge of the screen it takes two trackball spins in the opposite direction to get it visible again?  It ONLY happens on the right edge of the screen for some reason.

For years to 'mindlessly' get to the window-related buttons (minimize, full-screen, close) in the upper right corner, I've just moved the trackball up-and-right and then paid attention when it stopped to fine-tune which button to use.  Now if I do that I end up 'pages' off-screen and it takes more time and effort to get it back.

Thank you!

Did you accidentally set up a second monitor?  I've been setting up a lot of 2 monitor systems up at work lately and the way the cursor is acting sounds like it's actually going off the screen thinking there's another one to the right (default location for a dual monitor system).

FYI:  Having a 2nd monitor rotated to portrait mode is pretty sweet for long documents.  Set up one system like that, another one with the second monitor above the primary one was a pain to set up so the cursor would go off the top of the lower screen onto the upper one and vice versa, took me about a half an hour to figure out how to tell windows (XP in that case) one monitor was above the other.

Thank you!

Yup.  The monitor I have has two outputs.  One is slightly better than the other, but it wouldn't work with half-Life, so I'd plugged both plugs into the video card, figuring I'd just switch on the monitor to choose when I wanted to play.  Win7 auto-detected the two inputs and assumed they were two different monitors.

Since I haven't played half-Life (or any game) in a minimum of five years (played too long: ended up seizing and mentally exhausted from it, and couldn't do anything else), I just unplugged the 'lesser' input (the 'dedicated half-Life' input ;)) and sure enough, the cursor stops at the edge of the screen!

Thanks again!  :)

I setup 3 monitors on my main computer..
Tried this setup with just one video card but could never get it to work so I just added a 2nd video card and voila!

Got a nVidia (3000 series) PCI 512mb video card to use for a 3rd monitor after fighting with my ATI HD 5570 PCIe x16 video card determining that it will only operate 2 video outputs simultaneously..
And Finally I have a 3 monitor display setup!

Variety of Cells

I've been curious about a 3 monitor setup for gaming.  I have 2, but they are drastically different sizes, so I couldn't really use them together anyway.  Oh well, maybe someday.

Variety of Cells

This got me thinking.  I don't really use my second monitor because it's such a different size.  It's turned off just sitting there most of the time.  Would be nice to make it useful.  Then I noticed something common between my monitors, did a little thinking outside the box, and this is what i came up with.

Now to figure out how to keep it from falling over...
