Disney announces a reboot of The Rocketeer:

My reaction:

Seriously, I've been wanting to see The Rocketeer brought back for twenty years!

I really liked the Rocketeer. Not so sure about a remake, though, as it will probably suck. I think the announcement of the director is going to be the first good indication of the direction they want to take this.

I'm not excited about this.  I will have some interest if by some miracle, Johnson is involved.  Given Captain America's success, I guess there's a chance.

The first movie is my favorite comic book movie ever made.  It holds up well even today.  Great characters, and a great look that really pulls off the 30's serial feeling.

I can't imagine how butchered the costume will be as I'm sure it will be altered heavily to prevent Ironman comparisons.

I'm with you. It'll be bastardized, and worst of all, star Zac Effron :grr:

Original also has the greatest movie poster ever.

This thread went downhill fast  :(

I rewatched it a couple of weeks ago, the last time I saw it was probably when it came out on video and I couldn't help but think I'd like to see someone take another shot at this so interested to see what it ends up like.

I'm more concerned that it is Disney, than just that it is a remake. That being said, at least it isn't Platinum Dunes.

I know this is wierd for me to say, but after the stellar reviews I've been seeing of Robert Pattinson in Cosmopolis I would love to see him star in this and really knock it out of the park.

Um...the original Rocketeer was also a Disney movie.

As much as I like the original, there's plenty of room for improvement.
I'm all out for kicks...and every inch of me spells EXCITEMENT!

What time period will the movie be set in? And will there be Jennifer Connelly?

It also had Jan Levinson from the office as the nightclub crooner.

I'm hoping they get Joseph Gordon Levitt to be the Rocketeer. I mean who doesn't want that man to be everyone now?

lassieface

I absolutely love The Rocketeer. I want there to be more Nazis and also a massive (I'm talking absolutely huge) dirigible battle at the end.

YES!

I always listen to music when I'm running, and "Short Ride in a Fast Machine" always makes me think of The Rocketeer that could be.

Seriously! That crescendo!

Yeah, I could see that.  Hugh Jackman or even David Tennant would be good in the Neville Sinclair role
