Actually, this is true. Roosters simply don't crow at night. One of the few things this movie got right.

I did wonder about that. But I felt like being snarky anyway. Besides, why did this movie keep having that damn crowing so often in that one scene?

Simple, this movie had some kind of compulsive disorder.  It was unable to do anything just once.  How many times did that woman get up to look out the window?  Or the guy walk to the greenhouse?  Or the driving, oh my, the driving, please stop the driving.....
