Post 'em if you got 'em.  Click for full size version.

Bob

In case people want to download your stuff, do you have a link to their full sized version?

If you don't, I can open a directory for you under my Smugmug site (where I keep all the iRiff covers) if you like.   You can just upload your full size covers there.

The version when I click on them are about 1/4 the size of a full one.

What are you seeing?  The full sized version of this one is 1584 x 1079.  All my other covers, except the Shorts covers, are roughly the same size (with a variation of a few pixels here and there).  I assemble the covers for the features in a program call Easy CD Cover Creator, then use PDF Creator to "print" them out to JPG (the program won't let you just export it as an image).

Shorts covers I assemble entirely in GIMP, and they're 3150 x 2175.

The 3150 is DVD cover size.  1584 is too small for a full DVD cover.

I don't get what you mean.  I've printed them out and they work fine for me.  1584 x 1079 is almost exactly half the width and height of 3150 x 2175, so they're even proportionally the same.  Both sizes get printed out on the same 8 1/2" x 11" paper.

Bob

True, you can expand anything to the size of a dvd thinpak.  The problem is when you max up the small ones to the DVD full size, you expose the picture and lower it's quality as it has less pixels in the necessary print size.

The size of a thinpak cover is:

           Height   Width
Front = 2175 x 1535 pixels
Back = 2175 x 1535 pixels
Spine = 2175 X 80 pixels

Total =2175 x 3150 pixels at 300 dpi

Wouldn't a good cover on those high resolutions require good, high resolution art to begin with?  Like, I use the Rifftrax provided posters for the fronts.  Those are only 450 x 572, at 96 DPI.  They get all fuzzy if I scale them up.

Well I guess my stuff is lower resolution (96 dpi), but I'm no Piobman, so I do my best.  My stuff is mainly placeholders until he releases something.  I noticed he was not coming out with covers as quickly as he used to, so instead of having a big stack of empty DVD cases, I decided to take matters into my own hands.

Bob

Yeah, that is the big creature in creating covers.......get nice big art to put on them as those are pretty hard to find unless you know the sites to find them.  And a lot of the old movies have none!

Oh, I know your covers look fine when you use them and print them out, don't get me wrong.   I was just wondering if you had the full sized ones without expanding them.  That's all.   There are no issues at all with using yours.

... I got a little ambitious for a couple of covers (House of Wax & Dark water - matthew elliott riffs) and completely recreated the original rifftrax poster from scratch. I found the original images they used online to create various parts of the poster and then combined it with high quality images. Course, I'm probably the only one crazy enough to do that!

Bob

I've done even weirder things like that.    I had to create a full size scifi movie poster for the first CT DVD cover

Excellent.

And that looks better than the actual poster and movie cover.   Except the poster actor is missing the large belly......   Oh no, a new career may float in his brain now
