That ain't fake, buddy. That's the genuine sequel. Crafted by Rick Sloan himself. A movie resurrected solely because its popularity on MST3K. And it looks awful. I predict it will be even worse than the first one because now it's gonna be self referencing. Can't wait!

Still the same "we can't make puppets that really do anything, so just set them down have them rock back and forth and occasionally rub them against your face and chest to make it look like they're attacking"-style effects.  Awesome.

More or less it seems like they're trying to riff their own movie as they go and save Mike Kevin and Bill the trouble.

Well... you know the first movie was a COMEDY right? A failed comedy, but a comedy nonetheless. It's not like they were ever TRYING to make a good movie.  This is just more of the same, not even really any more ridiculous. Obviously it's all a big ripoff of Gremlins' mixture of horror and comedy, which was already ripped off by Ghoulies. And Munchies. And others I'm sure.

And I think there's a few subtle (but major) differences in the "comedy" this time around.  It looks like it will be trying even HARDER to be so-bad-it's-good by throwing in some pathetic attempts at self-referential humor.  The fact that they're referencing the first movie DIRECTLY is a HUGE turnoff for me. I mean, consider the other sequels that have tried the whole "the first movie was just a movie" approach - Blair Witch 2: Book of Shadows being the most notable (as well as the crappiest) example.

I think there is something to be said about trying to make a good movie, but it turns out bad...and purposely trying to make a movie bad; it just has no character to it.
