What futuristic things did we learn?

MartyS (Gromit)

I learned that there's a big, deep, quarry or pit hidden in the middle of LA somewhere.

And a place call "The Demilitarized Zone" is poorly named.

Bob

I learned Budweiser will show up in any movie.

PontifexPrimus

I learned that the next step after the Twin Screw Universal Controller is clearly the One Button Deadly Flying Laser Glover Remote:
Just repeatedly press and release the one button and it will pop open the trunk, unlatch the carrying case, let the high tech glove... fly... somehow, aim it at the bad guys, and execute a complex series of attacks culminating in a deadly choke hold.
Clearly from the same people that bought you the remote that Kirk used in that Star Trek episode where they stole Spock's brain.

Thrifty

I learned that, in the futuristic dystopia of 1991, judges, juries, attorneys, and evidence will be replaced by cheap electronic sign boards.  I think the Salem Witch Trials were more just than this.

I learned that you can evade an armed helicopter by driving in a perfectly straight line.

I learned that movie villains don't always have a good quip after doing something evil, no matter how much you wish they did.

I learned that David Carradine hung himself while masturbating.

Bob

I learned you can shoot at a car from a helicopter gun, hit it many times, and it never dents the car.

Someone uses the password "AAAAF". Alternately, It's really efficient to guess passwords manually by starting with "AAAAA" and sequentially going through the alphabet for every possible combination.

If you have a really cool robotic glove that gives you super-strength and shoots powerful lasers, make sure to use a revolver instead.

I like the original Jeep Cherokee.   (edit) OF THE FUTURE!!!!
And I'm worse than Hitler.

MartyS (Gromit)

I learned that shoulder launched missiles travel at the speed of light.  That thing was fast!

In the future, Demilitarized will be spelled Demiliterized.

WARNING: In case of Rapture, this dance belt will be unoccupied.

John Bradley

I kept waiting for Carradine's crippled hacker-boy to refer to him as "Rowsdower" -- I learned to handle disappointment.

Lembach

I learned that to be a ruthless kingpin, you must get an oily slicked back hairdo.

Bob

I learned that the next muscle help I hire needs good computer skills too.    All the good ones have them.

John Bradley

I learned that Colt revolvers designed in the 1870s will still be in use in the FUTURE! -- though they will not be very effective against helecopters.

KoolWhp

The pointless killing of the kid in the wheelchair was very Verhoeven-esque.
