I didn't mind the NBC coverage...mostly because I DVR'd almost the whole thing on both NBC and NBCSN and just skipped past all the crap I had no interest in (mainly, anything that wasn't events).  At the very least, I got to see a good portion of events I normally never get to see, like the skeet shooting and water polo...handball...you know, events the US never usually qualifies for and thus never gets shown on the Primetime broadcasts.  Would've liked to have seen events in their entirety, to be sure, but I didn't put up with as much excess bullcrap as I've normally had to do.

The biggest sins, however, were the closing ceremony.  Not only did the announcer mention "The Who" would be playing later (which got cut entirely), but the idiot actually ruined the whole joke with the cannon by announcing it was Eric Idle BEFORE HE ACTUALLY SHOWED UP.  Not really sure anyone at this point needs to know who Eric Idle is, he can pretty much speak for himself.

Still and all, though, I'm fervently of the opinion that if my favorites aren't in medal contention, I always root for the country that qualified someone who's never actually won.  That's why I thought it was nice when Pandelela Rinong won the bronze in diving.
One Man Band Riffs.  18 riffs, over 600 served, since 2009.

They did show The Who that Sunday night, they just cut away for about an hour to show a crappy scrubs ripoff show before airing the last 20 minutes of the ceremony.  So on the east coast The Who was on around midnight.
