Does anybody have ideas on how this movie could have been saved?

I was originally thinking it would have worked better if it was made as a fantasy film, with death-spewing fruits and tyd-e-bowl visions being easier to swallow in a fantasy environment, although that doesn't really work if you consider the original source.

This movie seemed to involve some good people, and had some pretty appealing thematic texture. How could they have saved the movie? Better writing? More characterization? A more believable method of rebel communication?

nah i liked all the sci fi elements in it.  yeah they were kinda goofy but that made it unique.  I thought the action sequnces (some of them) really should have been better thought out.  The never ending bullets thing always makes me mad, plus i think its just weak action in general.  And yeah better writing and dialogue could have gone a long way, because the overall plot wasnt too bad in concept.
