Fuzzy Necromancer

I have to admit, I nearly liked the movie for its own sake, and not because of the girl-in-leatherness either. Anyone else experience a wave of unexpected enjoyment?

Yeah, I still quite like it.  It's got an interesting look, there's some neat gadgets in it (I like the ball bearing explosives) and some really solid talent involved.  It's just a pity that most of the emotion is sucked out of the movie, so it becomes more of an exercise in cool, rather than a narrative that an audience can become involved in.

And it's got Charlize Theron.   :o

Fuzzy Necromancer

Eh, I don't really find Charlize Theron attractive. >.>;

Good to know that I'm not alone in enjoying Aeon Fluxx: Keep off the Lawn

Yeah as I said elsewhere, if this wasn't pretending to be an adaptation of another show, it would have been looked on better. I enjoyed it, just still perplexed at the missing 9 months from the middle.

Do you think that it would work if they just dropped the title and character names, or is it still similar enough to the TV series to merit editing?

Ancient thread, rise from your grave!

Count me among those those who actually kinda like the movie.  I owned a copy before I got the RiffTrax commentary, and didn't obtain the former just because I planned on listening to the latter.

That seems to be the key here.  I doubt that anyone who dislikes the movie would immediately start liking it if it weren't called Aeon Flux, but such a change would certainly silence the angry minority who actually remembered/loved the source material when the movie came out.  At worst critics might say the film is sort of a riff (no pun intended) on Peter Chung's original, but I doubt that'd even occur to them.

I kind of liked it, but only because Charlize is so tasty.

Crap, that never even occurred to me. Now it's gonna bug me every time I watch this. Thanks a lot. :grr:

But yeah, I actually kinda liked this movie (as I stated in the "rating" topic). And not just because of Charlise Theron (normally I find her very attractive, but her hair in this movie ruined that for me.) This was like Parts: The Clonus Horror: one of the few MST3K/Rifftrax movies I found interesting enough that I actually resented them talking over it at times. I thought the plot was actually pretty good. You just have to ignore how utterly implausible it is, and I'm used to doing that.

The fact I wasn't familiar with the cartoon, and therefore didn't care how different it was, probably helped.

And to plagerize SamH, "Ancient topic, rise from your grave!" Seriously, am I the only person who cares about Riffs more than a few months old? I guess all the regulars have moved on, and all the new people only care about the Riffs with all three of them. Too bad, since a lot of the Mike & Kevin Riffs are very good.

Aeon's "sister" dies near the beginning of the movie. She's cloned and reborn as an infant. Only problem is, she goes immediately from death to rebirth. The 9 month gestation period inbetween is completely skipped.

Glad to see this board isn't completely dead after all.

FWIW, I care about older Riffs, and I notice when there's new activity on some older release.  The problem is that after some time has passed I can't remember much of the riff, so the person is usually bringing up something that I can't quite remember.  So I think "I'll have to watch the movie+riff again before I comment on this!" -- but then I don't have the time to keep re-watching all the older movies+riffs.
