Well that is interesting and it could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on who writes and directs the movie.

You know if Legendary films goes through with their planned Mass Effect film series after watching Bones I think David Boreanaz would make a good film version of Shepard.  He kind of looks like the default Shepard and he does a good job playing the professional military type person who is in over his head and has the fate of people close to him riding on his shoulders.  Anyone else agree?

I also think that if he were willing to do the make up or some form of motion capture David Tennant would make a good Mordon.

I dissagree.  I don't think Shepard should be in the movie.  Some of the other secondary characters maybe.

I was bieng threated with death by wolf raping before it was cool!.

I am pretty sure the movie will be about Shepard in some way because he is the star of the Mass Effect series.  I do think David Boreanaz looks enough like him to pull it off,you know given that no actor ever looks 100% like a video game character.

The problem I see is if you don't make the movie about Shepard and the Reapers you run the risk of the movies being less epic then the games and feeling like a let down.

Also I know we have seen the story before but imagine how epic something like the final battle of the first Mass Effect game would seem to most people watching it on the big screen.  i like to think of Mass Effect as a story that I have control over but even I would pay $10 to see that.

After seeing The Avengers I have to say my dream writing and directing team for this movie would be Josh Wheadon as director and cowriter with JMS also working on the script, that would be a dream come true for me.

I don't know, I think a First Contact War series would be interesting. We know how it turned out and a few battles, but it's pretty open as to what really happened during that period.

Yeah that could work the only problem is was it really a full scale war?  We didn't hear all that much about it but I got the impression it was most thought out at the edge of space and it was over after a year or two.  Then again i only have the games to go on and have not read any of the novels or comics so I could be wrong.  That could work.

Oh and here are two more casting ideas based on the movie being about Shepard.  Ron Perlman as Wrex, and I would just keep Kieth David as Anderson.  What do you think?

Video game adaptations suck ass.  Boiware has a whole universe, use some of the settings and maybe a couple of the secondary characters but come up with a completely different story.

Well here is the thing.  Movies based on comics and TV shows used to suck but in the past decade we have gotten quite a few that are really good, this could be the turning point for video game movies.  Right now it's just too early to tell.  There is no reason why video game movies have to suck like comic book movies it all comes down to getting good directors, writers, and actors working on the project who are able to capture the spirit of the game while making the changes needed for it to work in the movie format.

This makes it sound like it will be following the storyline of the game and be about Shepard.

I think they should leave the game(s) story(ies) alone. Take a page from the ME comics and just flesh out other stories in the universe. It's too easy to screw things up and piss off the fans if they do it wrong. They found that out the hard way with taking license with the ending of ME3.

According to the Mass Effect Wiki:

QuoteThe First Contact War, referred to as the Relay 314 Incident by the turians, was a small, three-month conflict between the human Systems Alliance and the Turian Hierarchy.

Even though it was so short of a conflict, a movie could easily span that period. A series could do it even more justice, I think.

Yeah as I said it could work but it all depends on who is behind it.  If it is just a three month war then they need to find some other way to make it feel like there is something at stake.  That is the only problem I can see is that a three month long border war may not have high enough stakes for most of us to care who win it.  If they get a writer who can pull it off it could be good but making it feel like there is something important at stake could be hard.

How old was Anderson suppose to be in the first Mass Effect game?  Because if he was in hos 50s they could make the movie about a young Anderson in the first contact war.

Okay so here is just a bit of fun,if you were casting a Mass Effect movie based on the games who would you cast?

For me it would be.

Shepard:David Boreanaz
Anderson:Kieth David
Wrex:Ron Pearlman
Mordin:David Tennant

Director/cowriter:Josh Wheadon or Peter Jackson. Cowriter with the director:JMS.

and I haven't come up with anyone for the rest.

Who would you cast and what do you think of my casting.

Shepard: Arsenio Hall
Anderson: Greg Evigan
Wrex: Ron Ely
Mordin: Corey Feldman

Director/cowriter: Uwe Boll  Other cowriter: Diablo Cody

Movies based on video games generally stink.  Why waste any time trying to make it good?

P.S.  Is Ron Ely still alive?

Movies based on comic books used to stink, why try to make them good?  The animated Lord of the Rings movie stunk why should Jackson have tried to make the live action movies good.

Sooner or latter someone is going to make a good movie based on a game and I don't see why it can't be this one.

One thing that I am thinking is if they follow the game story line I am guess that if they do three movies they will have to do something different with the ending of the third,I can't see a studio walking into that mess.

Also I can't think of anyone who could play Ashley. I just can't think of an actress who looks and acts like her character.  If this goes forward it will be interesting to see who they get to star in it.
