I love the design, but MAN does he look destined to be an action figure.

Meh, nothing wrong with that. Looking back at Boba Fett, he looks like he was destined/designed to become an action figure.

After seeing both trailers, I am a little worried that the overly dark tone will undercut the film's appeal. Sure, it could work in its favor kind of like the Empire Strikes back of the series... but I just don't know. I'm just betting that this is going to be a great film regardless.

The Dark Knight was pretty ...well, y'know.

I think they're just using the darkness to sell the movie. The Thor's Hammer preview shows there's still some levity to be had amongst the Avengers.

If there's one thing Whedon likes to do, it's mix up the tones, so this is probably right on.

I'm excited for the movie. There have been some pretty snide remarks lately that the superhero genre is going to get stale very quickly. I personally, strongly disagree. I quite agree however with the statement that superheroes are our modern mythos. To see good guys having to fight evil with the potential of losing everything... even if it becomes an overused concept, it reflects the kinds of things I want to see in a movie. I go to the movies for fun, excitement, to be moved. I'll take a full decade of superhero movies over the kind of stuff that gets nominated for Golden Globes or the Oscars.

People are getting fatigued with the same kind of big spectacle building smashing, and the same kind of hero. But really that is why adding variety to the superhero mix is important. Having Captain America be a 40s pulp style, and Thor taking place in Asgard a lot, helped. Making movies like Dr. Strange, Deadpool, and hopefully eventually a Wonder Woman movie, are what's needed at this point.

I COMPLETELY AGREE! I do like well done drama. But it's not what gets me to see a movie in the first place.
And speaking of the Oscars, Birdman has a speach saying pretty much exactly that in it, that I also love and agree with.

Paul Bettany recently said that Age of Ultron is Marvel's biggest movie? I'm not sure how to take that actually... I do respect Paul Bettany as an actor, even if he was in the recent Johnny Depp movie "Mortdecai".

Mortdecai was actually really good. It reminded me of the Pink Pather.
