This is murder! MURDER!! You'll all be guilty! And you're doing it for NOTHING!

Is it just me, or did it seem like Nick was channeling Ron Burgundy during that scene?

Anybody ever see the '70's TV mini-series, (based on the '70 horror novel), called "Harvest Home"?  Bette Davis was in it, and some other folks from the '70's central casting... that was very similar to the Wicker Man, in which a man was sacrificed, (in this case blinded, for some reason), in order to bring out the crops.  I read the book and watched the mini-series.  It was like a reverse "Stepford Wives" where the women ruled and the men were nervous.

Just throwin' it out there.  Still haven't bought the riff.  My wife is really bustin my stones about buying all these bad movies.  Chicks, man... always bringin ya down.  Anyways...

Just for fun enjoy Sister Beech as a prostitute:

What on Earth makes you consider this fun?? :o

;D

How about for trivia then. The  woman standing right in front of Beech in the bo peep outfit is Lauren Tom who does the voice for Amy Wong on Futurama and Kahn and Minh on King of the Hill.

She also did some voices on various DC animated series as well.

Diane Delano also has some voice credits:  Pantha in Teen Titans  and Stompa in Superman: TAS.  Even in toons she's big and butch.

So was this pagan society a lot different from the one in the original movie?   If Christopher Lee was the leader in the 70s version, it seems like LaBute decided to make it a much more matriarchal society here.  His first couple movies were criticized as being misogynistic, right?  It seems like such a waste to critique a big ole turd like this movie, though.  Was anybody else thinking Cage should have at least played on their fears when he's being dragged off to die by starting to curse them and their crops, wishing them all barren, etc., "a pox on your houses" type stuff?  I suppose he actually should have been passed out from the pain anyway.

Mike and Kevin had some good stuff although I wish they'd been less brutal on the women's appearances.  yeah, they looked bad, they were supposed to look bad.  Mike singled out Ellen Burstyn to mention she'd done better movies, he could have done the same for Diane Delano or Frances Conroy.  I've been enjoying Conroy's work on Six Feet Under reruns on Bravo and in the line of the different style of riffing Mike did on the Legend Film releases, I'd like to see him mention some of the other credits for actors, just to acknowledge that they're capable of good work in a better project.

SecretAgentSuperDragon

Well that's because Burstyn was an Academy Award winner and 5 time nominee.

Tony Farms AKA Puma Man

Burstyn is one of the best actresses around and she has to share the screen with a comatose Sister Willow.

She must've had some serious gambling debts to star in this one.
