The founder of my favorite line of computers died yesterday at age 83.  Before I was 3 years old, I was clambering up onto my old yellow computer room chairs to load up stuff like "Cave of the Word Wizard" and "Aztec Challenge" on our (then relatively new) Commodore 64.  The machine eventually bogged down under the weight of technology and was replaced by the Amiga 500 (my second favorite line of computers), but even today I am still a rabid Commodore enthusiast, to the point where I still type in game listings in the backs of the old magazines into my Vice emulator.

And while it may not be the technological powerhouse it once was, Commodore is making a slow comeback...apparently the new Commodore USA company is trying to restore that legacy.  They apparently just released all new VICs and Amiga Minis, and appear to be doing Jack's legacy a much better service than the Amiga, Inc. fiasco of the last decade ever could.

God rest ye, sir.  Tonight, I shall raise a Compute!'s Gazette in your honor.
