My journey here to Rifftrax started, like so many others here, with Mystery Science Theater.  I remember discovering the show when I was tuning into Comedy Central to catch a marathon of Police Squad.  I had tuned in early and saw this weird show.... a movie with silhouettes superimposed on the bottom of the screen like you were in a movie theater.

At first I didn't pay attention to it because I was waiting for a different show, but something about it grabbed me.  I soon realized that these figures of a guy and two puppets were making really cutting remarks about a bad movie they were watching.

The more I watched, the funnier it got.  I remember laughing so hard that I was gasping for air.

To say that I was hooked would be an understatement.  The movie that they were ripping was Time of the Apes.  The only thing that sucked about the show was the fact that my cable company was splitting time on that station between VH-1 in the daytime and Comedy Central at night.  For a few months, I was only seeing the second half of the show, but eventually that problem got fixed.

I've been a diehard MSTie since that first time. When the show went off the air, I missed it.  To me, it was the funniest show on the air.  It seemed inconceivable that we wouldn't be able to enjoy Mike, Kevin, and Bill making fun of cheesy movies.  Rhino was putting out episodes on DVD, but there would be no more MST.  I once wrote to Rhino suggesting that they put out one or two new episodes a year on DVD.  They had a built in audience buying these sets, so why not?  Guess they didn't think it was such a great idea since they never wrote back with an answer.

Now it's a few years later... Mike starts putting commentary tracks on DVDs like Night of the Living Dead, and Plan 9 from Outer Space...  It wasn't MST, but it was funny and it was good to hear Mike give us his special insights into each movie.  I wanted more, so I figured it was important to support his new endeavor by purchasing the DVDs as they came out.  In some cases I bought the autographed versions in order to get my hands on the latest riffs from Mike.  Only Mike could get me to pay $20 (or however much it was) for a copy of Plan 9!

I enjoyed these new ventures, but I found myself wishing that we could hear Kevin and Bill alongside Mike.

Then comes Rifftrax... DVD commentaries playable on my iPod!  And not only that, but we're treated to more current selections like The Matrix, The Lord of the Rings, and Star Wars!  Things seem right with the world again.  We have voices from the darkness speaking out against the cheese that is Battlefield Earth, Daredevil, and Road House.

Welcome back, guys!  You were missed.  All that's missing are those familiar silhouettes on the bottom of the screen.

Being from Miami myself I remember that period! Stupid split station.

That's possibly the nicest introduction I've read so far.  Welcome, gerasco!

Anyhue, welcome to the forums, so far it's been very pleasant and polite here amongst the other members, "and nary is heard a discouraging word..."  Though I can't speak as to whether or not the sky is cloudy all day.  I don't get out that much...  Oh, and here... *Gives gerasco a Chiro-Gyro(Chiropractic Helmet), a Flaming Flower, and a Cumber Bubble-bund...*

Enjoy!

That's PirateGrl, A.K.A. Sara, (no 'h') She's rather laid back even compared to most of us.  She's not afraid to speak her mind, unless of course, she's speechless, which happens often...

What did I do?  she said that she was a good person.  Then I agreed with her.  Then she questions this by saying 'I am? to which I ask are you saying you're not?(a nice person...)  So please tell me that you're joking....
