I remember being all excited when the original Wicker Man came out and I put it in the DVD player...... :speechless:...... I thought it was horrible.

I dont know why they thought that anyone would be entertained by numerous drunk bar songs, Christopher Lee playing the piano and singing (?!?!?) and the masterfully blended in "missing scenes".    Yeah, I am sure no one will notice when the movie goes from a normal technicolor to a darn tan, then back to color again.

I know a lot of folks liked the movie, but I horrified for the wrong reasons.

I thought the original was pretty brilliant. It defied  Hollywood genre definitions of what a horror should be and is a deep and layered examination of ideology taken to the extreme. The ending is brilliant also.

The remake eschews all of that for lots and lots of stupid stuff.

Anyhue, welcome to the forums, so far it's been very pleasant and polite here amongst the other members, "and nary is heard a discouraging word..."  Though I can't speak as to whether or not the sky is cloudy all day.  I don't get out that much...  Oh, and here... *Gives chinton a Chiro-Gyro(Chiropractic Helmet), a Flaming Flower, and a Cumber Bubble-bund...*

Oh my goodness, this movie is ridiculous. First of all, not only do they put "Shocking Alternate Ending" on the dvd cover, they put it in the DVD menu as well. ::)  What was shocking to me was that James Franco had a 3 minute cameo in this film that was cut from the unrated version. I guess he just saw Nick Cage attached and said, "What the heck." Just a deep hurting film. Please Mike, bring the rifftrax now!

well the cover on www.amazon.co.uk says 'Directors Cut' so I am assuming it is.

I tried the UK 'Director's Cut' DVD against the PAL Rifftrax and it went wildly out-of-sync in the first few minutes, so there's some significant difference at the beginning.

Unfortunately I couldn't finish the experiment, so I don't know if there's more issues further into the film.

If you try it, and get it resynced after Nicholas talks to the girl in the car ("I've got it, honey") , I'd be interested in hearing if it was smooth sailing after that.

Ah, no!  That was very helpful, thanks!  I've been syncing to the Saturn black-and-white text.

I'm still not sure the US 'unrated' is the same as the UK 'director's cut' but I'm a lot more hopeful now. :)

I managed to sync. the PAL 'trax with the UK Director's Cut perfectly (at least each and every sync. line matched).

It does my heart good to see that so many are so into RiffTrax tha they just want to get in the swing of things.  My nerves, on the other hand, as the un-official RiffTrax Roundtable greeter, are another mattter.....
