What is the name of this film? I need help, mentaly!

This has been bugging the crap out of me for days. There was a movie about a dad who dies then his soul is inside a robot he made, it was a family film. I think it was a made for tv and made in the late 70's maybe early 80's?

It wasn't or even near Ghost Dad or Deadly Friend. Those names are what I got from useing Google and IMDB.

I found it and I was way off on the date. It's was made in 91. The name was "And You Thought Your Parents Were Weird."
