I was looking through Netflix the other day trying to find new movies to watch.  I like to find more obscure cult type movies, but finding good ones is very difficult.  So, I thought I'd start a thread where people could mention any quirky, cool, cult, or obscure type movies that they have encountered.

I can't think of too many I've seen that aren't well known cult flicks.

Suicide Club
A japanese flick.  Disturbing and engrossing.  If you like out-there flicks this is worth a gander.

Perfect Blue
A cult favorite among anime fans, but I would recommend it to anyone.  A brilliant thriller of Hitchcockian proportions.  Clever editing creates several layers of reality.  Watching it for the first time is a unique experience because you follow the paranioa and ambiguity the character goes through.  It's difficult to describe, just watch it.

Hm....dunno if it's a proper cult flick all over (it is in my neck of the woods), but I think Run Lola Run was one of the best movies I've ever seen in my entire life.

i second perfect blue.  the movie is truly exceptional as a movie and not mere anime drviel like so often happens.

I forgot about that movie.  It was definately interesting and unique.  Didn't captivate me enough to want to go out and watch it again.

Some I liked are listed below.   They are not indie, but were not hollywood blockbusters either......

Old Boy
Romper Stomper
Brotherhood of the Wolf
Dog Soldiers
Sexy Beast
R-Point

Someone just mentioned this on another thread but Head is pretty good.  VERY out there.

I don't know if it's obscure or a cult flick but I loved "A Tale of Two Sisters/Janghwa."  It was kind of different.
mike5150 how tall are you?.....in gallons?

Raven

One of Peter Jacksons early ones  Meet the Feebles.  You'll only wanna watch it once though.  It's the muppets on acid.

Blueguy

I dunno about obscure, but I loved Narc and it doesn't get much attention.

Grave of the Fireflies is a good japanese anime.  Not the typical teeny, annoying kind of anime either.

Pak-Man

Suburban Commando, with Hulk Hogan and Christopher Lloyd was a great comedy(Or I thought so when last I saw it at the age of 17...) Also, Based On An Untrue Story was great. Like Naked Gun meets Movie of the Week...

There's
Jude the Obscure
and
Camera Obscura.

Sorry, couldn't resist.
