Here's a question... WHY DON'T THEY JUST LEAVE?!

I mean, there were at least three clearly supernatural happenings, even before the first person (what was his name again?) gets killed. And even after that, they insist on not only sticking around, but actually going back in the house repeatedly, for ridiculous reasons.

And this isn't even taking into account the fact that there's a known sociopath, who's already tried to kill them, still on the loose...

Just load everyone into the pickup truck and LEAVE!  :grr:

I guess that wouldn't have made much of movie.

It wasn't much of a movie even with them staying...  :rimshot:

Uh, yeah, I'm just going to have to check that off as bad writing. Also, the main character seems to have forgotten about his dead brother, and his pitchforked arm, so his memory is not exactly stellar. maybe he keeps forgetting that they need to leave.

Well, not to defend this movie but Feathered Hair guy and his Tranq'ed sister tried to leave in the RV but the distributor malfunctioned.... or the master cylinder.  The dark-haired girl probably could have left but then Feathered Hair guy borrowed her bike and then our "Hero" and Eurostania Girl DID leave but they came back because Hero Guy wanted to investigate more about the goings on.  And then Pepe was an idiot.

I think you guys are ignoring what's really at the heart of this issue, that being the director's portrayal of Jim Dalen as a Christ figure.
VIVA IL ESORDIO DEL DIABETE ADULTO DUCE!!!

Wait, was Christ slashed across the neck by a broken fan blade?  Man! I need to read The Bible again.

My brother and I watched it last night, and even with riffing, the very idea of them staying and being so stupid made it rather unintentionally funny sometimes. Some good riffs too, but man is this film bad. Not as bad as BIRDEMIC, but it's up there.

Because they JUST DIDN'T CARE. Your BROTHER is killed by a severe hickey. Your BOYFRIEND suffers a mild burn in a spa treatment and you stab him to death. Your response? Wander around with a slack jaw and a blank expression. At least Feathered Hair Guy almost puked at seeing his bifurcated sister (which kind of broke the laws of physics but I won't be picky), but everyone else was quite comfortable with the idea of their loved ones dying in implausibly horrible ways. ANNANOTHERTHING! Did psycho caretaker guy hang himself? Whahappa? Or the cemetery squirrels just feel sorry for us? Do they have black squirrels in Boston? Black squirrels are SO cute. They look like tiny bears!

You guys forget something....this was made by Italians. Have you seen any Italian movies? It's just a cultural misunderstanding.

Go check out Open City, La Strada, Rococco and His Brothers, Umberto D, Bicycle Thief, Cinema Paradiso, etc.

No one ever leaves!

Wernski

There was a scene, too, where the dark haired girl tried to escape out the front door but it wouldn't open.

And don't forget, Escape 2000. All they had to do was LEAVE THE BRONX! But did they? nooooooooo

And those new homes in New Mexico looked very clean and modern!

And of course Amityville Horror...where the courteous demonic spirits were kind enough to offer warnings "GET OUT!" that apparently were not intimidating enough to merit getting the heck out.
