While rained/snowed in on Saturday I spent a few hours using Audacity to clean up the source audio on the "what makes things float" short.  So it is possible to reduce that noise in the first few minutes and only slightly change the tone of the narrator's voice.  But the background music had to go for a few seconds here and there where the noise was really bad and interfering with the riffs.
