The Obi-Wan call sounds like a man frightened by a mouse and then being devoured by said mouse.

And the Vader one (if true), oh man. Apparently, Lucas just can't help himself.

Hopefully the Vader one isn't true.  If it is...*sigh*...

He fucked with the Obi-Wan scream in the SE, so it's not like he hasn't done this before.  Fortunately these will give the guys at Fanedit.info HD sources to work with, and the restorations of the original movies they come out with will look and sound even better.
Been looking into this and am quite interested in it. Though is it something we'll ultimately be able to download, or what?

the noooo is pretty bad.  the others are unimportant for me but seriously that moment was great with silence on vader its just silly now.  and i am generally forgiving of the changes too...

You know, I have to wonder what the guys doing the restoration were thinking when George told them to do this.

They had to know this was a terrible idea.  There had to have been conversations over beers about this, and inside jokes about what he'd do next.  There's no fucking way a sane person who liked this series in any way would've said, "oh man, this really improves things!  Yeah, let's port some dialog over from two other movies into other scenes!"

i think everyone at Lucasfilm has been stoned out of their minds for the past 25 years.  that explains everything, including Howard the Duck.

What about when the monkey's saved Shy Beef in Crystal Skull?  That could happen, right?

Apparently, nobody ever questions any of his ideas. They just sort of cower to his power. I'm sure they think he's out of his mind for pulling this shit. They must just put their heads down, do their jobs, get paid, and laugh about him behind his back.

Yeah. For some reason, imagining that, I feel a little better.  Even the press release seemed to be slightly embarrassed:

"On Wednesday, a press representative for Lucasfilm confirmed that this change will be included in the Blu-ray release, writing in an e-mail: "Yes — Darth says NO.""

Maybe I'm reading into it.

No that does sound like they are ashamed of themselves.

Crap, so many people posted while I was coming up with this.  Ah, well, it still fits in.

The funniest thing about all this is, even though most of the talk is about, "Why would you do this in the first place?" we keep bringing it up to talk about?  Granted, none of this is probably going to stop me from buying it anyways (I admit it, I'm a sucker and probably a horrible, horrible person), but I think Lucas IS under the impression that talking about Star Wars, good or bad, is better than NOT talking about Star Wars.  I mean, unless he lives in a complete and utter bubble (which he certainly doesn't, if he has to greenlight all the Family Guy and Robot Chicken parodies), he knows a lot of people talk about the movies and disagree with the changes, and he does it anyway.  I think nowadays he fiddles with stuff just because he loves seeing people react to it, especially the negative stuff.  I think it's become a sort of game; I mean, how can he look at the reaction to, "NnnnnnnnOOOOOOOOOooooo..." and think that by having Vader saying "No....NOOO!" in Jedi makes the film stronger?  I understand his need to tie the films together thematically (as I mentioned before), but I think he realizes it's yet another one of those changes that people are going to groan and roll their eyes at.

While I don't have a roiling hatred of the prequels (I don't think they're absolutely fantastic, but despite being in the minority on it I don't mind them, either), I do think it's a shame that he spends all this time tweaking little things here and there that nobody really noticed or worried about, when he could've spent the last six years either making three new Star Wars movies (that would probably be hated, I'll admit, but still something new), a completely new and original franchise or arthouse-style movies (which he was at one time capable of doing), or, as previously mentioned, buying the rights to the Holiday Special and tweaking that up.  Lord knows of all Star Wars related media, that's the one in most desperate need of correction...as long as the original is still available, of course.   ;)

EDIT: But then, maybe that's it.  Maybe he figures he has nothing left creatively, and if he keeps fiddling with the Star Wars movies that are out now, it gives him something to think about and do.  He can't think of any new ideas, so he changes what he can on what he's got.
One Man Band Riffs.  18 riffs, over 600 served, since 2009.

Doctor Who?

What I can't figure out is why he is so mad at people who want the theatrical cuts released.  I mean if I say I want those movies out that means I think he is a good film maker and those movies are so good they still stand up fine almost 40 years latter. I am saying something good about him and yet he seems to treat it like the worst kind of personal insult.

One of the times that I feel piracy is completely justified is if something is not available by any other means.  If he won't put out an original version on Bluray, then it's his fault that it gets pirated.

Doctor Who?

That is how I feel.  I don't pirate anything except stuff that can not be found.  For instance I use to have pirated copies of Reboot before the DvDs came out then I bought the DVDs.

Not sure if this has been covered yet, but I wonder if he'll change A New Hope to make Han shoot first again.

Not only will Han shoot first, he'll drag Greedo outside, field-dress the corpse, and tie it to the hood of the Millennium Falcon.

Actually, that might be kinda cool.
