And i would say that is a comparison that just doesnt work lol.  Even at the HEIGHT of my star wars fandom when i buying books with cross sections of AT-ATs and what have you i NEVER thought it was art.
So The Empire Strikes Back cannot be considered art at all? That's ballsy.

If i consider that art i might have to consider transformers 2 art.  That is a world i can not live in.  Besides if Ebert thinks video games can not be art, then based on the same logic he applied i fail to see how movies are art.

Wow so this has nothing to do with the movie in question or even movies in general you are just a but hurt gamer who was looking for a way to attack Ebert.  Look he said what he said,I think you need to move on with your life. I mean does it really bother you so much that one guy in his 70s doesn't think games are art that you have to spend the rest of your live finding ways to attack every movie and every fan of movies because you think that will teach the old man a lesson? You are of course assuming that every movie fan out there agrees with Ebert and needs to be punished with him.   As I said everyone is entitled to their point of view on what is and is not art and you should not let one critics point of view ruin your inter life.

I must have just died and gone to hell, that's the only thing that can explain what you just said.

"If one big-budget blockbuster movie is art, then other big-budget blockbuster movies might be art." Makes enough sense to me!

Ok ignoring the topic

from a pure logical perspective

Gunflyer what does not make sense again logically?

sarcasm_made_Easy

Need what?  this one is about star wars being art of not.

So i again logically what doesnt make sense about

empire is art then so is transformers 2?

I had very nearly this same argument with a friend some years ago, this being the "is it art or isn't it" argument.  At the end of the argument, I pretty much decided that it is such a subjective thing that it's better to just consider every entertainment medium (movies, music, etc.) "art", then live by a simple motto: "Just because it's art, that doesn't mean it's good."

Due that same subjective nature i refuse to pretend like these things are art.  It allows in too much crap.  Let David stay art and let super babies and beverly hills chihuahua be just movies.

As much as its picking at a scab, how is this off topic?

Especially if your gonna "contribute" to it.
