What mutant powers did we learn about this time?

I don't understand why you can't have aliens in a movie that already has mutants.  is an alien really an sillier then a guy who can some how control anything metal?
Presentation is what's truly important. The brood would look silly, Apocalypse would look silly on the
big screen with their best known comic designs. It's all about presentation I think.

I still don't see why he couldn't have been included.  They changed the design of other characters, they could have do the same for him.

I think the idea is consistency within the world of the story.  I mean, the same logic could apply to the Matrix or Firefly.  Just because it's sci-fi doesn't necessarily mean aliens work in it.

The other thing is that I think it would steal focus from/distract from the basic premise.  Yes, there are certainly stories where aliens are used to represent minorities, but I think it would confuse the message and the internal logic of the films to have, in the middle of a war for genetic peace/supremacy, alien ships come from the sky.  Yes, aliens have long been a part of X-Men mythology (although I've never been a fan of the X-Men in space stuff), but it would seem out of place within the world of the films.  The X-Men comics are part of a shared universe that allows for that kind of crazy diversity, but that diversity can be very jarring on screen.  It reminds me of Alan Moore talking about how the DC universe kind of felt like at times (and I'm probably be misquoting here but the premise is the same) "It would be as if Sherlock Holmes and (other fictional character whose name I forget) teamed up to save the Little Women from Dr. Frankenstein."  And that kind of clash can be a great thing (heck, years later after that quote, he made League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, where the whole premise that all fiction co-exists in one world) but it probably wouldn't work within the series continuity too well.

If they were too do it, the Brood would probably be some sort of mutating virus rather than talking space bugs, but it would probably be better to focus on a villain or threat that deals with hatred, xenophobia (not in the "I'm afraid of space aliens" way) and prejudice and how it relates to the fictional minority that the films are focused on.

I learned that Mike and Co. think that remote control boy and writing girl have the worst powers, despite pincushion guy being in this movie. Consider this: never needing a remote control EVER. Not to mention it could be used on other electronic devices in various ways. Could be used every day. Transcript girl: being able to transcribe any tv show, phone call, or conversation effortlessly. Pretty useful. Pincushion guy: has the same advantage in a fight that anybody with a really short weapon has. Most worthless power ever.

The lonely hearts killer would disagree.

And don't forget that the previous movie also established that he never sleeps. Could be useful, assuming he doesn't go insane from watching late night TV.

His apt must be filled with cheap mail order knives and Ronco products.

Sorry, I don't get it. Don't know much about the lonely hearts killer and couldn't find anything specific on wikipedia. I'm just saying that compared to any ability we saw in the movie, this power sucked the most. There's a good chance he'd be outclassed by a regular human with a knife, and his powers have no other uses that I can think of.

It was a vague & terrible joke typed out very late when my mind wasn't at its most coherent. It would've made much more sense had I reversed the joke & said "His superpower would make him an excellent lonely hearts killer." Still a bad joke, still in bad taste, but at least it makes sense!

Lonely hearts killers tend to get their victims through want ads, they tend to seek out vulnerable codependent women and kill them after displaying affection. Or, in the case of the Honeymoon Killers, the man coldheartedly wooed wealthy women & killed them after marriage. Lonely hearts killers have to get people close to kill them. Like our friend Pincushion. He hugged that woman to death.

I swear, I'm the worst joke teller in the world. I ought to take my cues from the Kevin Murphy School of Serial Killer Jokes (he delivers a hilariously tasteless Ted Bundy joke in the Transformers Rifftrax).

Anyways, sorry for wasting your time trying to figure out a poorly worded & unfunny joke.
