please make your items one dollar. my credit card denies purchases less than that.
from bank:
Transactions under $1.00 are blocked as this is
how fraudulent transactions or companies try to
obtain an authorization. Most legitimate
companies are aware & will initially process the
transaction for $1.00 or more then complete it for
the actual amount. We ask that you speak with
the merchant so they can process your
transactions accordingly.

Do you have a PayPal account?

That's how a lot of us purchase ours 8)

Possibly you could buy a gift card and then use that balance for buying say the next five .99 purchases.  :-\

I've never heard of companies doing that, but it is an interesting solution. I wonder if Apple and Amazon do this when you purchase a 99 cent mp3 from them?

I don't use itunes either.

So, is there no other way but buying through a gift card??

I'd just try buying a gift certificate and paying through that as a workaround, but it does sound like something they may want to look at.  You're the first one to bring this up, but maybe not the only one.  It could be costing them sales.

You can setup a PayPal account with your credit card and purchase $.99 that way..

Well you can probably sign up for a PayPal account.  That's not too hard.

rachel

but wouldn't it still be 99 cents. with paypal or not, wouldn't it still be just 99 cents and as such denied?
either way, i dont want to give paypal my info. the less places that have my card info the better. i dont want this thread to become a paypal thread please.

i guess i'll try gift card. but what happens when there's just a few cents left on the gift card? do i take that as a loss?

rachel

could they add some "blank" item for like three cents that people affected by this could add to their cart to bring it over the one dollar and then be able to purchase the riff they want?

No denials. I've been using paypal for years with no problems but you don't want to go that route, fine.

Easy, RVR. She just asked for suggestions, not to be lambasted because of her choice.

Not a bad idea either. IF you don't mind my asking, what bank do you use for the credit card? I think this is a per-bank thing, because I'm able to purchase 99 cent products without issue, but mileage may vary among banks.

I am using East Boston Savings Bank. It's a smaller type of bank (about 15 branches), so this could be just their decision to do with their cards for a security precaution. I've asked them for more information about this. I should probably receive a reply tomorrow. This could also be a new measure, because I had no problem with my old card. I received a new once recently, my old one had reached it's expiration date.
