Audio Gimmicks? <Laugh Track>

Hey All,

We thought one of the funniest bits during Battlefield Earth was DisembAudio's laugh track~ I know that after about the first season of MST3K the guys never really tinkered with the movie's sound or included any audio gimmicks, but i thought it really worked well with this Rifftrax.

I'd like to see (hear?) more of that kind of stuff. Not necessarily a laugh track, but whatever. And i don't know about synth fart noises everytime someone sits down, but... actually that might be pretty funny. Yeah, i'm an idiot.

Anyway, here's hoping that more of that pops up again soon~  :)

Absolutely, it was a blast, of course I don't mean using the same gimmick all the time. Like during one of the silent film discussions, I thought they could just go ahead and redub the film almost, same for a foreign film too I suppose.

Like many of the riffs in our beloved Canon, I watched the Battlefield Earth rifftrax with a group of friends, and that part was easily the funniest!!

It got the loudest, most sustained laughter of the entire track!!  You know it's good when it becomes hard to breathe!  ;D

Pak-Man

It reminded me of what Cartoon Network used to do to fill in the 10+ minutes after Space Ghost: Coast to Coast. They'd play an old Hanna Barbara action toon, and add in a laugh track that would laugh at inappropriate moments. The results were pure hilarity. :^)

I don't know if it's something that bear much repeating

But for B.E. it just worked...some things are so stupid in that film....

I really like Dis as a character.   The laugh track was hilarious.  I had the unfortunate timing of trying to swallow a sip of soda at that moment and my nose is now angry at me.  And my favorite part of Road House was Dis constantly telling Mike to look away during the female nudity scenes.  And the zinger during Cocktail caught me by surprise.  Dis is actually a pretty funny character and I'm looking forward to more tracks with only Mike riffing cause the Dis jokes can only get better.

macleod

Yeah, the Dis jokes are great....maybe a little much during the Fifth Element, but generally it was good times.

I figure we're going to get more of it in OVER THE TOP, considered that it's going to be a solo mike deal

I wouldn't want rifftrax to fall into the territory of wacky morning drive-time radio show soundboard overload... but the laugh track in BE was perfect. As long as it wasn't overdone, I think the occasional Disembaudio audio drop would work just fine.

Actually, there is an episode in season 1 where a woman is singing and Joel stands up and puts a hand over her mouth (and the singing mutes for a second).

It was something that BBI did... not the movie..

I think it was shortly after this they agreed to not mess with the sauce too much and just riff what was presented (killing the giant Joel dart type stuff)

Do you know which episode it was.  I thought I watched all of those fairly recently and I don't remember that one.
