Gotta feel sorry for the Mets, 2 games in a row getting destroyed by the Phillies.

Hope they destroy'em again tomorrow. >:D

OK, maybe not so sorry for them after all....

Marty, we'll see you in a week. Furthermore, in October!  :)

Watching the Red Sox play the Yankees in the Luxury Suite at the Brockton Rox like a boss. (Bill Murray owns the team and Bill Buckner is managing this year.)

That game was amazingly fun to watch. I will post the "highlights" tomorrow.

From what I read on bookface, it sounded like a tee-ball game!

Not far off.  It was pretty ridiculous.

Top of the first inning: Pop fly to left & the guy falls down attempting to catch it.  A few batters later, ground ball to the pitcher who throws it 4 feet over the catchers head trying to get the lead runner at the plate resulting in 2 runs.  Add in 2 strikeouts the catcher dropped both resulting in base runners and there is only 1 out in the bottom of the first!

After that it went back to normal baseball for a few innings until this happened right in front of me:

Back to the baseball game, by now it's the 5th inning.  Double to left, LF fires a strike to the catcher, runner falls down half way to the plate Braun style, gets up scrambles back towards third, throw to third beats the runner by about 6 feet but the 3B drops the ball. Everybody is safe.

Foul ball to the Luxury Suite, I lean over the railing & catch it one handed.  Probably loudest cheer of the night in the stadium.  (Really poor turnout since it's basically the end of the season.)

K.O. The Boxing Kangaroo stopped by to hang out:

The Roxies Dancers stopped by as well.

You can tell it is a classy luxury box by the pee yellow walls.

QuoteC Joe Mauer (respiratory infection) was a late scratch Friday at Anaheim, leaving the Twins in the remarkable position of not having enough players despite the fact that major league rosters have expanded.

They can't catch a break can they?

Seriously bad umpiring during the Phillies game.

I'll be really interested in seeing how they cover the umpires butts explaining the use of replay on a double to check for fan interference.  They will probably lie and say they were checking for a home run even though it was called a double on the field, wasn't real close to a home run, and it wasn't the team hitting that asked for the replay.   The current rules clearly say they can only go to replay to check a home run call.  Maybe the Florida manager was being nice and wanted them to check to see if the double by the Phillies was really a home run.  :P

And I thought the rule was that the lights had to be on for both halves of an inning?  They turned the lights on as the Phillies were starting to bat.  It made no difference in the game but WTF...

Then of course the game ends in the 14th on some seriously bad ball/strike calls...

Terrible last 2 games going into the next 2 series against the Braves and the Brewers.

I am benching Buehrle tonight. I am only behind in WHIP by around 0.04 and ahead in walks by 5. I figure it's safer to keep my pitching line where it is than risk him potentially imploding and losing the walks category and potentially ERA as well.

If nothing crazy happens in the 8:05 game and there arent any major stat corrections I may have managed to go from 8th to 5th or 6th! Playoff crisis averted!

I am a huge loser. I know.

MartyS (Gromit)

So, sports reporters are just as bad as regular news reporters now, guess I shouldn't be surprised but I figured people reporting on a game would at least watch the game they are reporting on...  The first AP description of the protested Phillies game said Charlie was out on the field saying the ball was a home run, sorry, Charlie didn't leave the dugout until after they used replay.  Now other reporters are writing stuff based on the stupid AP article.

Just can't trust any reporting on anything anymore.

MartyS (Gromit)

What's really ridiculous is even the ESPN video recap of the game is quoting the AP article, so they didn't actually watch the game either.  And they edited the video highlights in a way that match the narration.  Or maybe they all only watched the recap video and wrote the narration to match it, either way Charlie was not asking for a review, he's not stupid, he wanted that double to stand.

I'd love to know what the Marlins manager really said to the umps on the field, seeing there was a good chance it was interference why not ask to have it reviewed to see if it was a home run, he would have already seen that there was practically no chance it was one, and once they go down to take a look it opens up anything that happens in the play for review.

There's a reason you can remember the names of certain umpires, Joe West constantly comes up in these types of calls.

Anyway, looks like both the Phillies and the Braves were thinking too far ahead this weekend, both losing 2 out of 3 to teams they should have beat up on.

ESPN is far too buys making up Texas Tech ex-coach stories, creating the "Longhorn" network, doing faux reality shows, sexually harassing their employees, etc. to actually practice journalism.

They are now the network of the screaming talking heads and, except for sporting events, are totally unwatchable.
