Seems like there'd be no big deal in releasing the MP3 now and the RT player one later.  I mean it's 2:40 in the afternoon on the West Coast and almost 5 in the East.    IMHO, if you say "Will be available 4/12" then well, at midnight one should be able to get to it and not have to wait for , you know, whenever.  If it's a matter of making sure everything works perfectly why not "release" it on the day after all of those kinks are worked out?

Ditto! (except it's going on 6pm in the East :-[ )

Yeah this forum clock is always off an hour it seems now :o

I think we may have to have patience for this one, and the Rifftrax crew deserve it. Instead of making a "Sophie's Choice" between:

1. The Extended Collector's Director's cut, which most Star Trek fans already own, but is currently out of print
2. The in-print, easy to find 2009 DVD reissue, for which Paramount inexplicably reverted back to the Theatrical Cut (4 minutes shorter)

They are editing a 2nd riff so this Rifftrax will be compatible with either version you may have. For detailed differences between the two DVD versions, and how hard the Rifftrax crew are working to edit riffs that will work with both versions, check this out: http://www.movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=828. Furthermore, they'll have to create a RIFF file for both versions. They're working overtime.

If anything, you should be shaking your fists at Paramount for not keeping the Director's Cut in print & only presenting the Theatrical Cuts in their 2009 DVD/BD reissues. And of these Star Trek reissues, both TOS and TNG, the only ones currently available to consumers as individual DVDs are The Wrath of Khan (coming soon), The Voyage Home, The Undiscovered Country (already riffed)* & First Contact. The rest were only reissued within their respective series' box sets.

So, those pining for First Contact to be the next riff, I'd guess that's most likely. It's easy to find, and the running time hasn't been fucked with (at least, not that I'm aware of). And it's not as deliberately comedic as The Voyage Home. And, like Wrath of Khan, it has Moby Dick references, and it's the only other one you can own without being called called a nerd.

Well, if 100 people have voted it would follow.... ;)

And am I nerd because I own all of the Trek DVDs other than Final Frontier?

I don't know. I was only speaking for popular culture, not myself. I take a Nietzsche-ish approach to pop culture: Beyond Cool and Nerd

Okay. From now on we'll be sure to give you exact time, down to the nanosecond, of when we release the riffs. Because there's no work involved in getting these things out, and we've pretty much been sitting here.

There's a lot worked involved with getting any product from production into the hands of the consumer but stores don't say the release date of a movie is "Tuesday 4/12 sometime..... maybe." No, they into account all of the stuff that happens from point A and point B including manufacturing, shipping, etc. and know that 4/12 is the day consumers can walk into a store and get in their hands, usually the product arriving in the store the night or two before the release date.

Here, we're told something is available on 4/12 the same day you're still finishing the product.  So if it's known you still have to work on something to finish it why not set the release date further a head of time?  If you said it was going to be released 4/19 you would've had a whole other week to finish things up and if you got done, early, hey early release!  Instead you say "4/12" a day when you still need to work on it, thus, upsetting consumers.
