TOR

The first MST3K or RiffTrax movie that I did not finish, ever.

That categorizes as "The Worst".

Midgets in sacks with rubber masks doesn't do it for you?

Hehe. the first I couldn't get through in one go was Red Zone Cuba.

You're both cowards!  ;)

I've only ever quit one film, The Skulls, but I forced myself to watch the second half later.

Just to clarify, it wasn't because of the movie, it was because of the new guy doing riffs. There was an audible "thud" every time he told a joke. After an hour of "thud, thud, thud, thud" it was just too painful. The movie should've been easy to riff.

I'll give it another try of course. Perhaps I can warm up to it eventually. I'll reply again after I try.

Tor do you give up on making a sandwich if you can't get the lid off the peanut butter jar?  You seem like a very angry individual.  Is the incredible hulk your hero?

So you don't like the way Lowtax speaks then?

peiz11

I didn't have that problem at all.  I don't know, I thought Lowtax was fine.

Janitor

I guess you guys haven't seen Idiocracy yet. For shame Mike Judge!!!!

I don't want to lay blame too quickly. I've read other people commenting on Lowtax's voice being too similar to Mike's. That might be part of it. Perhaps some of the riffs were to blame.

It's mainly the "thud" effect. It may be hard to explain why it happened, but it happened repeatedly for Lowtax (not so much Mike).

Like I said, I'll reply with an update regardless of whether or not I figure out why.

It may just be that I am partial to the MST3K gang, and it takes a while to warm up to the new person.

ambitiously stupid

It may help to remember that Lowtax was a big MST3K fan.  We should be happy for the guy that he got the chance and not view him as an outsider.  I personally thought he did a great job.  He sounded like if Crow and Michael J. Fox had a child.
When punks start hasslin' decent people, I make it my buisness!

Listen Murdock, I'm sick and tired of your dead lobster...

I think seeing the pic of Mike and Lowtax riffing together helped me allot with the visualization of them riffing. It helped me distinguish between who was talking. It made listening to this rifftrax more "mythotical", if I can use that word?  :-",

I thought TOR had a thick skull...

Heysie

I thought the new guy was good, though I admit having trepidations at the outset. On reflection, I decided that the reason I was nervous about a new guy wasn't because I was actually opposed to new riffers, but because it made me worry a little that Bill and Kevin, and maybe even Mike, might be phased out in favor of new riffers, and I would really miss them. I hope Mike remains the Riffmaster, and as long as Bill and Kevin do some of the movies, I welcome other riffers as well.

Hey Super Mario Affleck, can you explain why you mentioned Idiocracy and Mike Judge? (Hope this doesn't make me an idiot...)

I just got done watching Troll 2 and I thought it was pretty good. It was great to see a true B-movie featured and you could tell that Mike and Rich both had fun with it. After about 5-10 minutes, I was in the groove and enjoying the riffs. The fact that there was a new riffer involved was forgotten pretty quickly. I think there were a couple of instances where Rich's delivery might not have been silky smooth... but he's not a seasoned veteran like Mike, Kevin and Bill.

Overall, great change of pace with a true low-budget crapfest. I'd love to see one out of every four or five Rifftrax feature similar films. They can be so oddly enjoyable on their own and riffing just makes it all the better.
