Well, that ay be true for HOHH, but Reefer Madness is just an alternate title for Tell Your Children. How can you be so sure that this had nothing to do with it? After all, its the ORIGINAL title. You know how Twilight is selling goo? Well, imagine if you used no poster and wrote it in chinese letter? Now how good would it do?

Reefer Madness is the popular title. Reefer Madness is the title everybody knows it by. I think the last time anybody actually referred to it as Tell Your Children was 1936.

Exactly. Every VHS tape I have ever seen has always been called Reefer Madness. The first time I watched it was in 1984 and it was called Reefer Madness.

Sorry to break from the topic at the moment, but I just checkd the imdb page for the Reefer Madness remake, and it says Kevin Murphey wrote it. Is this the same Kevin from rifftrax, or is it just some lowlife just trying to ghain attention by submitting fake info to imdb?
Im 13 and I can hate movies! DEAL WITH IT!!!

Definitely this.  All the Murphy's stopped naming their sons Kevin in the decades leading up to and following our Kevin's birth.

Kidding aside, that's a different Kevin Murphy AND a different Reefer Madness. The one your looking at is a musical comedy made somewhat recently. The fact that someone with the same name as one of our beloved riffers is behind it is just a cool co-incidence.

The difference is with Rifftrax you're more likely to find a GOOD choice.

We did an entire evening of surprise shorts.  Not having seen the content before is not the factor driving ticket sales, nor is a special guest.  Plan 9 was the biggest seller, the christmas show and Reefer were pretty much identical.  The fact that we've done movies that are available on RiffTrax DVDs does not matter to most people, as anyone who's been to a show knows that A) the experience is very substantially different to what is on DVD and B) there is always new material in the form of shorts.

A lot more people came to the first Live Event, but let's also remember that a lot of theaters had troubles with the feed for that event.  Now that was partially the fault of the weather that night, but I'm sure a lot of those people left the theater saying "Well, that wasn't really worth the time" -- especially the ones who didn't see any of the movie.  Sure they got refunds, but that's not much consolation if they had to pay for babysitters, etc.

The fact that it was some movie that has already been available as a 3-riffer release does effect things.  I did not go to the live event for HoHH, because I felt that it wasn't really worth it to go to the Reefer Madness event.  This despite the fact that I like the original ("studio") release for HoHH more than the original ("studio") release for Reefer Madness.  I loved the new shorts that were done as part of Reefer Madness, but is that enough to justify the expense and logistics of me getting to a live event?  To my mind, it did not.  So, I skipped HoHH.  I've bought both of those movies multiple times (1-riffer DVD, 1-riffer VOD, 3-riffer VOD, 3-riffer DVD), and I didn't see why I'd spend more money on the same movie.  Frankly, I don't see why you'd think that this does not matter.  Especially if you are likely to release a DVD of the live show after some suitable delay.  And yes I realize there are some new riffs, but there's also a lot of riffs which are repeats from the earlier studio releases.

I realize that being part of an actual live audience (the one in the theater that I'm at) makes the experience quite different than even a DVD of the live event would be.  But that's got both plusses and negatives.  The audience I was in for Plan 9 was a great audience.  The audience I was in for Refer Madness included one guy who felt he was supposed to be riffing the movie along with Mike, Kevin and Bill.  And for the most part, his riffs weren't all that funny (although I'll admit he had one or two lines which were very good -- but which I unfortunately can't remember now!).  That made it less fun, but what was I going to do?  Yell at him to Shut the Hell up?  That would have made matters even worse for others in the audience.

Already voted.  Unfortunately I didn't any combination of "blue-ray" and "suck"  in the choices, so I chose the next best answer.

Bob

Well, I voted in favor of Blu-ray (options always nice) however, would movies like Maniac and Boy in the Plastic Bubble really benefit from Blu-ray?

Or any of the shorts?

I assume this poll is probably for the usual group of Legend titles. Plan 9, Night of the Living Dead, HOHH, etc. The ones that they could make decent high-def masters of.
