I wanted to integrate the Rifftones mp3s with my Clowns in the Sky playlist.  However I seem to have misplaced my old digital goodies.  Does anyone know where I can re-download the Rifftrax Live goodies from the past shows?  I get a 404 error when I try to go back to where they were hosted after the shows.

Don't think you can get them for free anymore. I liked the way they did the first one. You had to enter a password and the goodies went into your My Files section and they were yours to grab whenever you want.

Yah, I just found the Plan 9 items in my My Files, but none of the other things.

Unfortunately the later live shows weren't set up that way. They probably did it so that the casual fan didn't have to make an account to grab the goodies.

Yet, you'd think they'd want to encourage people who've never bought downloads here - and yet went to the time and trouble of going to a theater to see these - to make an account and have a look around.  Maybe offer them a discount on their first download.

Interesting idea. I'll find a way to change it up this time around. Creating an account is a bit of a costly process (as is creating an order) when it comes to database resources, and I don't like to incur the wrath of thousands of people all hitting "Create Account" at the same time... but if I can do something like that, maybe a coupon code or something, it'll be worth it... hmm...

Well...then maybe have the free stuff page as you have been doing with a banner, "Plus download a Rifftrax now...it's easy to do...and enter code $$$$ to get XX% off of first purchase - click here to shop." or whatever. Give the discount to everyone or just new accounts depending on what your Web Flunky can set up.   ;D

Just struck me as odd that the last two "Freebie" pages were designed as though they existed in a vacuum with no links to the rest of this site.  Like there couldn't possibly be a newbie visiting who maybe came to a live show with a friend but doesn't know much about this...  Some people just aren't that intellectually curious to go, "What if I just put in the first part of this address..." - you have to have something going, "Look!  Shiny thing! Click on it!  I want to sell you something!"

But it would be cool if there was a way to transfer the new free stuff to an existing account so that it can be safe.

Or people can just do what I always do...save stuff like that three places - the computer, portable hard drive and burned to disc.   :)

Has there ever been a "freebie" short that wasn't also on sale?

torgosPizza

Well, technically no. But we don't sell the shorts until a while after the short is there as a freebie. The point is, we're trying to use the freebies to entice more people to go. I don't think it adds a LOT of enticement, but it's like, "You want that short for free? You should've been at the show!" But in a friendly tone. I guess.

Yeah, there WERE links to the rest of the site, but they weren't exactly a big priority in the design. (Not much attention was called to them.) I like the idea of creating a coupon code and a link to login or create a new account. It'll be interesting to track that and see how many people use it.

Why are you guys keeping a tight fist on the Grass short? I don't think any of the past shows shorts had this long a wait to buy the studio versions.

No reason.

Maybe the new short at the next live show is "Grass, Part 2" and they're waiting to release them as a single file.  ;)

And Part 2 is just 10 minutes of Kevin dancing around in a grass headdress and a pair of Joe Namath netted slingshot briefs, and nothing else.  :o
