Thought I'd try a little clash of the titanically bad movies that Rifftrax has done.

Show your work.

troll 2 had a bit of a story, i'm pretty sure that maniac was an afternoon special gone horribly wrong and the room was mostly just boring. i think i'm gonna have to give this one to swhs.

Worst as in worst made or most painful to watch?

SWHS had stars, sets, different portions that completely different people worked on, a higher budget (than the others on this list), characters that had already been established, the backing of a major studio, and the approval of George Lucas, who at the time was acompetant filmmaker. Yet it still came out like a fanboy made crack fantasy.

I think The Room might have the biggest budget, actually... Who knows where it came from or where it went...

Also, the SWHS isn't a film - it's an attempt at a variety show. I think I have to give it to Maniac.

I cannot vote unless I get some criteria for what "worst made" means.  Each is "worst made" in one respect or another.  So I would say SWHS is the worst one to sit through.  It makes the most jaw-dropping choices in direction and is unquestionably the most misguided of any of them.  Troll 2 probably is the worst on a technical level (the worst acting, the worst effects/costumes, etc.).  The Room is the worst in a... in, uhh... wow, I can't really describe why it's bad because it's like it's on this whole other level of bad.  And Maniac?  Um... haven't seen it yet.

So in summation:
SWHS - misguided
Troll 2 - technical
The Room - understanding of the human condition
Maniac - N/A

I cannot vote.  I am sorry.

That's actually why I picked those specific movies. They all have their own unique brand of bad. I put up the poll to find out which kind of bad irks people the most. So for you, personally, which one is the most unforgivably bad?

I haven't seen Maniac yet, so that one is out of the running.

Troll 2 is no joyride, but I didn't find it particularly painful to sit through... And yes, I did watch it once unriffed via a rental back in the day when it started getting all the "you must riff Troll 2!!" buzz on the forum. It has some unintentional comedy that only these types of shit movies can deliver... not to the mention the stabs at intentional comedy that are so bad they only work at the unintentional level... A really bad movie... but no deep hurting.

SWHS is poorly done and entirely ill-concieved even by the standards of the variety show crazy 1970s... That said, I've never thought of it as terrible. Well, the Harvey Corman parts are terrible... and everything to do with Chewbacca's family... and wookie masturbation devices... and Bea Arthur singing... well, fine... this probably is terrible... But I've always thought it had a certain lame charm that only the 1970s can consistently deliver.

That leaves The Room. I couldn't imagine ever watching this detached from Rifftrax... While there are some great moments of unintentional comedy here, the movie just seems out to do you harm... It's the closest thing to deep hurting on the list... so it's getting my vote.

Rattrap007

Star Wars Special. It was Star Wars and had the real stars, yet it sucked ass.

The Room - Although stupid and terrible it is enjoyable because you can laugh at the badness of it

Maniac.. never seen it

Troll 2 - much like The Room this is one that is so bad it is great.

I've thought about it some more and am thinking along the same lines as Rattrap.  At least The Room and Troll 2 had ambitions of telling a story and were campy enough to laugh through.  SWHS has no camp, barely a plot, or a story.  It's like a variety show that got lost in a Star Wars induced acid trip.  I cared more about all the characters in the above mentioned more than anyone in SWHS... and that includes Harrison Ford as Han Solo!  I mean, how do you mess that up!?!  I'm voting SWHS.

You say that like it's not exactly what it intended to be.

Yet there's bits that if you were to edit them out and you didn't know they were part of his infamous show (Korman's cooking show parody, the Starship song, even the bit with Bea Arthur) they're as good as regular variety show sketches of the time....

It's just that after having to sit through all of the crap with Chewie's family to get to them...

Tyrant

I'm giving it to The Room because it doesn't even have the audacity to slow down enough to be boring that you feel you can quite watching it, unlike SWHS. Maniac is just weird, and Troll 2 doesn't take itself too seriously to start with.
