What did you learn from the Firey Goblet?!

I see your point, but if you think about it, an NFL football regular season only lasts 16 total hours of actual game time, not counting overtime.  Even if you factor in actual playing time, you're only talking 48-55 hours total.   So why not play it all within a couple weeks?

Besides that, you also have to factor in gambling.  You need time for gamblers beg for money from their family, speculate, check out and odds, and lay their wagers.  The more time you allow, the more money gets gambled.

And yet NFL season is still shorter than the Tri-Wizard tournament!

Well, Quidditch was poorly scheduled, too, because with only four teams facing one-another once, there aren't that many. I figured this out once, there would be six I think. For the whole year.
I used to have an image here, but Photobucket got cheap about remote linking. I guess I'll have to think of something witty instead. Which I will. Later. It caught me by surprise, in all honesty. It's hard to be clever on command, I mean, YOU try it. Be funny: NOW! See, tough. So, gimme a bit, 'kay?

I'm a sports nerd so I actually figured out all the possible different standings you could have and there aren't that many different combinations.  Most of the time you'd have a bunch of tie records.  It would make a hell of a lot more sense if they played each other twice.  And they would have if JKR knew anything about sports.

I just learned that the only thing more boring than Quidditch is analysis of Quidditch.

The entire casts' hair was at an absolute worst this film. This was the peak of hair awfulness.

OOOH!  OOOH!  I got one!  Okay, ~I~ learned that the most evil wizard of the 20th Century, who has the build of a starving Ethiopian 2 year old, who went into a long, complicated plot involving the use of one of his followers who was in Azkaban, but, whom the movie somehow doesn't explain is no longer there, having him take polyjuice potion for the majority of the year, relying on EVERYTHING going EXACTLY to plan and having these teens do what he needs them to do to get to a crucial point, making sure that the Tri-Wizard Cup is a portkey, getting Harry to his Father's grave, making sure all is prepared WHEN Harry gets there, and relying upon Harry not to best him so he can come back in full glory.....can still make him utter the phrase, "Oh, why, Harry, I'd almost forgotten you were here."  REALLY?!!!!  REALLY, RIDDLE?!!!!  THE PAST 9 MONTHS YOU WERE OBSESSING OVER THIS KID LIKE YOU HAD BEIBER FEVER AND YOU ~ALMOST~ FORGOT HE WAS THERE?!!!

I don't like this bad guy.  He's dumb. >_<

Indomitus

I've learned that the plot of this movie is like a Rube Goldberg Device that's missing pieces.

I learned that a 400+ year old lethal magic competition only NOW has an age restriction.

Bah, you kids today with your high-falutin' "safety" nonsense.  When I was your age, we fought a dragon every day and had our face bit off, AND WE LIKED IT!

ShadowDog

There are real life parallels.  Wasn't it just a hundred years ago that 9 year olds were working 12 hour shifts in factories right here in the US of A?

Well, the 4th book is one of my favorites even though it's the most flawed, plotwise.  I mean, why are you going through all this convoluted boolsheet just so Harry can win the tournament just so he can touch a port key when all you had to do was make a book a port key, summon Harry to your office, and ASK HIM TO HAND YOU THE BOOK.  Fucking DUH.  It makes zero sense.

....Hmmmm, I've never thought of that, BUT, lets just say that, had that even occured to Jr., it didn't occur to Voldemort, AND, according to the book, he needed more strength, so, those extra months of Wormtail milking Nagini to nourish Voldemort would have been better because then it would have been a fair fight and Harry couldn't have just won....besides, how long did it take to get the bone out of the grave?....that could have been a last minute thing.  Also, maybe, as we noticed from the forcible bow that Voldemort made Harry take and his fondness of old, powerful magic as mentioned in the Book series, he really had a specific plan and since he's rather a formal fellow, things had to go accordingly.  I mean, there's reasons is all.  :keeps telling self this:

Basically, Voldemort is a ham and a drama queen. There's no point doing big bad evil magic if you can't be showy with it.

I learned that you can use a time machine to save a hippogriff, but it can't be used to prevent the emergence of history's greatest evil and to prevent the murder of an innocent student.

I've learned that our Hero is a big fat cheater and nobody cares. He's not supposed to get help from anyone, but he accepts help from Hagrid and Moody about the dragons, help from Neville in the water challenge, and even has Moody point him in the right direction in the big maze. If he weren't such a big cheater, Cedric wouldn't have died because evil Moody would have to come up with another way to get Potter to appear in the graveyard since Harry would've failed every single task.

Oh, and Hogwarts is probably the most dangerous place on earth. Consider, 1st year Harry's attacked by a troll, a 3-headed dog, an evil unicorn killing beast (Voldemort) while serving detention, and a teacher. Year 2: giant spiders, a basilisk, Voldemort, and another teacher. Year 3: dementors, and yet another teacher (in werewolf form). Where do people get the idea that Hogwarts is safe or that Dumbledore is so smart, since he constantly brings in teachers that try to harm the students?

Indomitus

Maybe it's considered safe because it's the only school in the wizarding world that has railings on their stairs.

Or, for all we know, the other schools could have transportation systems that consist of rotating spikes.
