Good.  It might mean I can watch them without having to resort to squinting through terrible prints of poorly transferred DVD copies.  I've seen a couple of his earlier movies, but none of his silent ones.

Doctor Who?

This is great news.  Hopefully they will do better with music then most Dvds I have seen too.  Most DvDs that I see of Hichcock's silent movies just put public domain rock or disco music on top of the movie,so I really hope these restored editions do better.

Do Hitchcock's silent films have a film score that can be as easily replicated with an orchestra as Metropolis or did theaters in the 20's just play whatever music sounded great with what was going on at the moment?
Being a genocidal maniac is not one of my turn ons.

Is it weird to hear the Safety Dance in my head watching Game of Thrones?

I don't know, all I do know is that rock and disco don't work.

According to the article, it seems like current music impresarios will be composing their own music for the movies I believe. If, like Metropolis, an original score had been composed for the movies back in the twenties it could be easily replicated in all their symphonic glory. But if no original score was commissioned specifically for the films themselves, then these films would need original music or public domain music added to them.

First Metropolis, then this:

Slight difference.   A good chunk of Metropolis was missing for decades.  They've known where these were the whole time and haven't bothered.

The apathy from the industry itself about silent films sucks.  And boy I miss TCM right now...
