Here's the first trailer for the Jonah Hex movie.

I thought this was an odd choice for DC, but whatever.

I want this movie to not suck, because I'm partial to the Western/SciFi and sorta Steampunk genre.

That is one shitty poster. Are they trying to remind people of Ghost Rider?

Or Van Helsing. Not any better.

There's so much awesomeness in that poster trying to get out, but it's just not happening.

I don't know a whole lot about guns, but a six (Seven?) barrelled automatic rifle? And if he's feeding it with a bandolier, what's in the clip? Plus a grenade launcher? He IS a one man war machine!

The trailer sure does. It even starts with a "As the story goes / legend has it " opening.  I was making Sam Elliot jokes.

I know the Vertigo series incorporated supernatural elements into Jonah Hex, but since the current book is more of a straight Western, I'm surprised WB let the movie take this route.

Not sure how long this link will last, but:

Looks like a fun little movie. And Marco Beltrami doing's the score, so when I get bored with Megan Fox trying to act, I can focus on how awesome the music is.

And apparently the director was the senior animator for ReBoot way back in the `90's. I have a bit more confidence in this movie now.

Marco Beltrami is always a good thing. I missed him in Hellboy 2.

Bad ass movie, 2 mini guns on a horse, what else can we expect from HW?  ;D

Man, this looks weak.  I hope I'm wrong and the trailer is not properly representing what the film is.  Which is a shame because Josh Brolin as Jonah Hex?  I love it.  I love that choice a lot.  John Malkovich as Turnbull... could be good.  The supernatural stuff... I kind of want a straight western (which is strange since the film kind of brings it up and immediately drops it), but I'm not offended by it (as it harkens back to "Weird Western Tales").  But the Megan Fox stuff, the one-liners and "cool guns"?  Weak.  And the screen writing team did Pathology, which was really dull and characterless.  I'm ok with deviation from the source material, but not when it makes it look like everything else out there (only somehow more generic than normal, if that makes sense).

If you get a chance, read the current series.  I like the fact that while he occasionally does some heroic stuff, he rivals the High Plains Drifter for nastiness.  He never raped a person, but he has mistakenly killed innocents then laughed about it (slightly less nasty in context), let others die by inaction, get drunk and presumably became abusive to his wife and child till they ran off on him, tortures and patiently watched a guy hang himself so he could take his boots (to be fair, they were promised to him).  You'll be shocked what is gotten away with in a non-Vertigo series.
