I knew that Moon a) had Sam Rockwell in it, whom I like, and b) was highly recommended to me by a friend whose opinions I trust.

9 just looked neat from the cover.

Have you seen the short its based on? I preferred that.  :)

Shame about the movie though. ;P

I liked it. I'm sort of a sucker for the retro-future sci fi look though.

Nope. Was that a feature on the disc or something?

No idea.  I watched it on Youtube.  It's only 11 minutes long:

If that movie hadn't looked so mice, I would not have made it all the way through it.

Wow, that had me glued to the screen, very good.

I hardly ever read reviews but I almost never agree with critics so I'm usually going in just knowing pre-production information at the most

I have to admit, I can't even remember the last time I saw a movie without knowing anything about it.

But, I have gone to see movies without watching a trailer or reading a lot about it, that's as close really.

For example, I saw Mother of Tears and, say Zombie Strippers, at a local theater without knowing much about 'em.

As for video, stuff like Murder Party actually I didn't know anything about. Hmmm, well then again, the video box with its pictures and text does convey something. Hehe yeah.

This kind of nonsense is how The Dark Knight made so much money. "Hey, is this a sequel or something." "I don't know, but everybody says it's great. And there's a famous dead guy in it."

Typically I at least read a description if it's on TV or Netflix or a DVD. And I don't really go to the movies, so those are the only options. I wouldn't watch something without looking it up because that's just lazy. I'm one of those people who actually looks something up that would take two seconds to look up.

I can't fathom knowing absolutely nothing about a movie. Unless it's recommended and it has one of those titles that doesn't make sense. Like Cloverfield.

There's nothing "lazy" about it.  Sometimes people just want to be surprised and see where the story takes them.  I find this especially true when I watch Turner Classic Movies.  A lot of times I'll have no idea what the next movie is about and I'll sit there and watch the entire thing.  Discovered quite a few good movies that I might have passed over if I had read their description.

And of course, there is nothing wrong with watching a movie whose plot you know absolutely nothing about, just because you like a particular actor or screenwriter or director.  Sometimes that is enough to get people in the theater.

Too often nowadays, trailers, reviews, and media stories about a film give away so much that it takes away from the movie watching experience.

I'm not saying everybody should walk blindly into every film they see.  But once in a while, it can be a very good thing to do.

TTYT

Tropic Thunder. I knew it was directed by Ben Stiller and had a lot of funny actors in it, but I never really got around to paying attention to it aside from reading about Robert Downey Jr. and Tom Cruise's performances - until it I finally saw it when it hit the cable movie channels. I was pleasantly surprised, because I thought it was gonna be more "Not Another Vietnam Movie" than the hilarious film that it was.

MightyJack

I love trailers and visit a lot of movie sites so there's not much I go into without some knowlege of it.

But there was this low budget film titled Franklyn and all I knew of it was the the title and only heard of that because it was listed at a comic book movie site (no description, just a title and a release date). Since I have a comic book blog, and superhero movie website, that was enough to get me to watch it

I couldn't find it for rent so I bought it blind and loved it.  Best blind buy ever. I later read some reviews and found most people didn't love it, so I'm glad I didn't have any previous notions in my head for this one. I was a clean slate.
