In case you dont, in the late 80's, Disney did a 4-hour made for TV space movie that was supposed to be a pilot for a TV show, but it never developed.

I was obsessed with this movie when I was a kid almost as much as I was Star Wars and Star Trek at that point.  But like many things we may have enjoyed as an innocent, dumb kid, now they are not quite as entertaining as an adult.

Besides its hugenormousity run time of 4 hours (3 and change minus the commercials), there were some hugely cheesy scenes, some of which were shot shamelessly in Disneyworld - in one scene, you can even see the big Epcott Center ball in the background.  There were also lots of needlessly long shots of ships flying through space with the theme music playing.

The acting was OK, but the writing was mediocre at best, and so the movie was full of awkward, cheesy scenes.  In the end, the concept of the whole movie was faulty - who gives a ship on one of the most important voyages for the future of mankind to a bunch of idiot teenagers?

Yeah, I used to run around in a jumpsuit after that series. Or maybe a jacket liner that I pretended was a jumpsuit.
