As far as the 'cute' thing (for the record: I think Kristen Stewart is cute, too), but from what I understand from a friend who's read the books, she was supposed to be - effectively - the plainest girl at the school/in town/whatever.

So what have I learned?  Even 'plain' in movies is impossible to achieve.

But in addition (bolstered by the post four spots above this), I've learned that the Mormon psychology that zenmichael brought up as 'completely and totally a Mormon thing' unfortunately resonates with a huge number of women the world over, regardless of their religious affiliation.  :'(  We still have a long way to go.
To dispel some of the misconceptions about head injuries you have developed from watching movies and TV, I wrote this: ...Some Information on Head Injury Effects

We have a long way to go?  Mormons taught that black skin was the mark of the devil and didn't care who knew until some time in the latter part of the last century.....and then a lot of people think they only said they'd had a change of heart because it was messing up the recruitment of the sports teams in their schools.

And of course women are so well thought of in every religion....that's why when that group of nuns just wrote to Congress in support of the Health Insurance bill (saying that the pre-natal care it would provide was "pro-life") some Catholic Republican responded with, "I don't listen to the nuns. Only the bishops."

Oh I think Kristen Stewart pulls off plain very well.

THE QUEEN!!!

I learned that guys like horrible trembly people with no personality

I learned that a lot of money will still get you a crappy movie--at least Manos can blame "I didn't have any money!" on its result--with extra 90s crappy effects

I learned why so many people my age and older saw this movie over and over---Jacob's chest

Maybe if she smiled once in a while.

An author can actually get away with calling a movie in a book "Face Punch" and not be abandoned to writing Goosebump books.

A group of friends of mine had an inside joke (which is, as all such jokes are, impossible to explain) about the hottest new video game--Captain Hornet Puncher.

I kinda think "Face Punch" as a movie title sounds about as stupid.

There's a movie (probably very decent movie) coming out next week called Kick-Ass....

Whoever came up with those movie titles knows Hollywood "creativity" pretty well.   ;)

ShadowDog

Eh, it wasn't bad as far as making fun of Hollywood goes.  It was about at the level of Dean R Koontz's "satire" of Trek novels in Mr. Murder.

Besides, if they genuinely wanted to make fun of the titles of romantic comedy movies they'd have to use the name of some 1960's girl-group song (like the real movies do) that made no sense to the plot but gives them unearned name recognition.....

But they'd have to pay for that.

stansimpson

Anybody else think of this when they heard Face Punch?

Or even moreso, what about that episode of Community where they do MST3k night and they watch Kick Puncher?

Darth Geek

I thought the title "Face Punch" was pretty funny. Reminded me of "Death Blow" and others from Seinfeld. Of course, Seinfeld did more with it and it wasn't just a one line cheap gag like it is here, but in Twilight, a cheap gag that kind of works is a major accomplishment . Like a retarded kid coloring inside the lines.
