I also feel obliged to be a voice of reason so I must say this.  Yes, 9/11 is not funny.  A joke about 9/11 can be funny, however.  Laughing at a joke about 9/11 is one thing.  Laughing at 9/11 is another thing entirely and I think it's this distinction that you're missing...
I did not want to get back into this. (really I didn't) :) I've been much too busy with Troll 2 controversy. However Mr. Jocko Homo I already made that distinction.  Please read this whole thread before you tell me what I am missing. I made that point at least two times. You seem very sincere in your desire to take good ole Zach's Mind in context. Please afford me the same dignity.  Here are some quotes you missed.
QuoteMake all the jokes you want about society or government?s response.  Yet, the terrorist attack itself was one of the darkest acts in the history of the world.  To find anything funny in such an event is disturbing.
QuoteI don't have a problem with jokes about society's response to events surrounding 9/11. Zach's joke was about the event itself "that's a blast from the past".
And for all the tolerant people please don't release your not so tolerant hounds on me again.  I am just defending myself.  I love you.  I honestly love you.
(again please no hounds) :'(

ah yes the resurgance of a thread no one wanted to see again, how annoying.

Well.... maybe we can change the subject of this thread so new people will only see the last posts and not know what it was about. (Because we know they never reread the whole thing) Let's talk about something safe like gas prices, foreign policy, or the environment.  Wait...I got it Weird Al Yankovic!

My favorite Weird Al song is "Yoda".  Yo Yo Yo Yo Yoda Yo Yo Yo Yo Yoooodaaaaaa.  And that episode of King of the Hill where Hank told Bobby that Weird Al shot himself was not true.  Weird Al is alive and well.  I saw him at Six Flags last year.  Unless....It was a fake Weird Al!!  Like it's just different actors playing the part of Weird Al.  That must be where Joe Don Baker went.  It is all making sense now.

I wish it was out today. Actually it is out tomorrow. Unless you are posting from THE FUTURE!! Or from another country where your new releases come out on Mondays.

KFC has a similar strategy with their Honey Barbecue Wings. Mmmmm... :^)

OOOOps!! Got a day ahead of myself, but now as I write this it is past midnight.   Maybe I should go to Wal-Mart and demand a copy post haste.
Actually, I own zero Weird Al CDs, but I do enjoy his work when I run into it.

Since this is what this thread is all about now...

Straight Outta Lynnwood ROCKS!
I love the melodic sound of Virus Alert. Reminds me of Hardware Store. Weird Al's found himself a nice sound. :^)
And "Stuck In the Drive Through" captures the spirit of marital every-day life better than any song I have ever heard. :^)

I hate Dual Discs. The 'CD' side wouldn't play on my computer at all and when I played the DVD side with PowerDVD it would stutter every once in awhile. Finally I had to use some extra software to extract the PCM file from the DVD to play on my computer. I wished they had just done a seperate CD and DVD release. The 'CD' side as per their own packaging doesn't follow the standard CD specs. They wonder why people like to download.

I actually got my copy at Wal-Mart on Monday.  They already had them out that evening.  This album has a more originals than before.  I was a little worried about that but they are all hilarious.  And the cd/dvd thing I had the same problem I could not play it on my computer so I could not put it on my ipod.  My favorite on the album is "Do I creep you out?".  I can almost see Taylor Hicks driving around in his Ford truck following the lady around moving spastically to the radio playing "missing you".

Most of my favorite songs are his originals or 'style parodies' On this album the only parody songs I knew the originals for were Green Day's American Idiot and R-Kelly's Trapped in the Closet which proves that you can make a comedy out of a comedy.

Is it me, or is Al starting to take on a much more melodic, almost orchestral quality to his originals? (See: Hardware Store, Virus Alert)

QuoteHardware Store, Virus Alert
The vocal arrangements in those songs are creative as well.  I also like the pancreas song arrangement there must like 327 instruments used in that song.
Weird Al is a genius. Sadly, he gets little respect outside of his fan base.  People I talk to often view him as a guy who is just ripping off songs.  But his writing is very creative.  And he and his band do an awesome job recreating the sound of the originals.  He has won several Grammy?s for comedy albums.  This album proves that he can be just as funny without it being a straight parody and is capable of creating a unique sound.
