I REALLY need to do the Never Ending Setlist on RB2 so I can finally be done with it & swap out the hard drive for a bigger one.  The 60 GB is still pretty full.  I think I have 3 GB left.

Rock Band 2 export price announced:

http://rockbandaide.com/9130/rock-band-2-export-9-99-for-a-vast-majority/

QuoteThe Rock Band 2 export will be $9.99 for ALL consoles, will include a "vast majority of the songs in Rock Band 2," and will be available on launch day. Rock Band 2 tracks imported into Rock Band 3 will include Pro-Drums (as expected), but no other Pro charting. While we do not yet have confirmation of the tracks that will and will not be exportable, I'm anticipating an official announcement this morning with further details, so I will update below with the full details once they have been confirmed.

A vast majority, huh?  Interesting.  I sure hope that some of my favorite RB2 songs don't get the axe.  But they can feel free to axe Visions by Abnormality.  :P

Apparently, Billy Joel DLC is coming December 14.

From a Harmonix press release:
Quote...and beginning Dec. 14, some of Billy Joel's most-loved songs including "Big Shot," "Captain Jack," "It's Still Rock N Roll to Me," "Movin' Out," "Only The Good Die Young," "Piano Man," "Pressure," "Say Goodbye to Hollywood," "The Entertainer," and "The Stranger" will be available as Rock Band 3 downloadable content and will include Keys and Pro Keys parts...

If the last two songs are not "We Didn't Start the Fire" and "Uptown Girl" I will not be happy.

Really? I guess "Uptown Girl" would be okay for the harmonies, but "We Didn't Start The Fire," aside from being one of Billy Joel's worst songs, is completely repetitive, and would have virtually nothing to do for anyone but the singer.

I've never preordered a game in my life before. I'm glad I made an exception.  >squee!<

Looks like you need Pro instruments & specific DLC for some trophy/achievements in RB3:

Yep.  You'll also need pro instruments to unlock some in-game clothing and instruments.

Although, it doesn't matter that much to me since I'm much more into the music itself than anything else.

QuoteJOHN LENNON'S LEGENDARY IMAGINE ALBUM AMONG THE FIRST OF ROCK BAND™3 DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT

John Lennon, The Doors, Billy Joel and Bon Jovi Headline Epic Roster of Upcoming Rock Band 3 Downloadable Songs

Rock Band 3 to Rock the World on Oct. 26, 2010,
with More Than 2,000* Songs Available to Fans at Launch

Cambridge, MA – Oct. 25, 2010 – Raising the bar once again for interactive music games with the addition of groundbreaking new features that include keyboards, vocal harmonies and Rock Band Pro Mode, Harmonix Music Systems Inc., the world's premier music video game developer, and MTV Games, a part of Viacom's MTV Networks (NYSE: VIA, VIA.B), today proudly announced that Imagine, the timeless album from John Lennon, will be among the first albums released as Rock Band™ 3 downloadable content.

"The songs on John Lennon's Imagine run the gamut from beautiful piano-driven ballads like 'Jealous Guy' to all-out guitar rockers like 'Gimme Some Truth'," said Paul DeGooyer, senior vice president of electronic games, music and programming for MTV Networks. "It's an incredible musical statement, and a real workout on keyboard, guitar and vocals in Rock Band 3. We're very excited to confirm it as one of the first downloads for our new game, and to help our fans celebrate John's 70th birthday with its release."

As previously announced, The Doors will kick off Rock Band 3 downloadable content Oct. 22, but Harmonix and MTV Games have quite a line-up to follow that debut. Adding to an already impressive catalog of more than 2,000* songs available on the Rock Band platform, including music from John Lennon, The Doors, Bon Jovi and Billy Joel will also be among the first available for download through the Rock Band 3 Music Store after the game launches Oct. 26 in the United States and Oct. 29 in the rest of the world.

In addition, fans that purchase Rock Band 3 and play online during the first week the game is available (Oct. 26 – Nov. 1) can download a free three-pack of songs from The Doors that feature Pro Guitar and Pro Bass upgrades. The free pack, which is available only through the Rock Band 3 in-game Music Store, includes "Light My Fire," "Riders on the Storm" and "Touch Me," and incorporates five-button guitar and bass, Drums, Pro Drums and Keys, Pro Keys and harmonies, where applicable, as well as a free expansion that will add Pro Guitar and Pro Bass parts. A nine-pack of songs from The Doors will also be available for download that week. This includes some of the classic rockers' most-loved songs, like "Hello, I Love You," "L.A. Woman," "Love Her Madly" and "Roadhouse Blues," all featuring Drums, Pro Drums, five-button guitar and bass parts and, where applicable, harmonies and Keys/Pro Keys parts.

In the coming weeks, packs of some of the greatest hits from both Billy Joel and Bon Jovi will also be added to the Rock Band Music Store of downloadable content. Be sure to stay tuned to RockBand.com for more information.

Sooooo...... Pro Guitar and Pro Bass are a separate expansion? It is free this time for these songs does that mean they will charge for others?

From what I've heard Pro will cost an extra buck (estimated) for each DLC track.

MrTorso

Interesting. I guess it makes sense for the all the work for guitar note charts.  As long as pro drums don't cost anything extra I will be happy.

RB2 Export: 5 songs missing, but the 9 HMX bands will be coming as part of a FREE DLC pack! Details: http://bit.ly/aF1cgn

The game has been out for only a short time, and we now have details on what songs are missing from the 1.93 GB Rock Band 2 export. For the $9.99 export fee, we get all the songs EXCEPT:

AC/DC – Let There Be Rock
Journey – Any Way You Want It
Metallica – Battery
Red Hot Chili Peppers – Give It Away
Soundgarden – Spoonman
Also currently missing in the export are the nine songs from Harmonix bands. Do not fear! I talked with someone at Harmonix and these songs will be coming in the future as part of a FREE DLC pack.

The export is now live, and is accessible by entering the code from the back of your Rock Band 2 manual in the Redeem Code area of the Rock Band 3 Music Store menu.

Woo! I can actually cram that download onto what little space I have left on my PS3's HD!  I'm a little bummed at losing the Journey song & the RHCP one, but I'll get over it.

MrTorso

Nice. I guess I will break down and get the game today!  I was hoping to wait but I don't think I can.   Now to decide if I wanna drop the coinage for the pro guitar!!
