As happy as I am to see the triple win for Transformers (well deserved, 'bots, well deserved), I'm still ticked a bit to see Hilton's win for Repo brought up again. I've said it before and I'll say it again, she really wasn't that bad in that movie. All things considered, she was pretty good.

Agreed. Although the movie was kind of a hit or miss sort of thing for me. I was expecting to cringe when she was on screen... only to find myself thinking she wasn't horrible (still not good mind you). I'm just glad they didn't give her a big singing number at the end. Speaking of... is anyone else annoyed with the new hollywood movie "Repomen" coming out that pretty much looks exactly like Repo Genetic Opera?

So it sounds like the director of Repo lucked out that he got something passable.  She probably did it by accident and couldn't reproduce that performance again if she tried.

I enjoyed Land of the Lost and GI Joe.

GI Joe was about the equivalent to one of those sci-fi original movies. As long as you turn off your brain... it was watchable. I do think the female razzie for the movie very much deserved it though. Bad dialogue along with bad acting.  I really hope they rifftrax it one of these days.

I'm not sure man, Sommers seems to have a very high awareness of camp and cheese (see all his other movies for reference) which I think a GI Joe movie would have to be... at least his version was silly on purpose (imo)

The director originally didn't want her at all, refused to let her audition. She basically forced her way in, and actually impressed him with her performance. And to be fair, her character is a spoiled rich brat who's also a drug loving slut. Part was practically built for her.

As for the new Repo Man movie, I think the two went into pre-production at the same time, this one just took a lot longer to get out of development hell. Just another one of those Hollywood coincidences I guess.

I just assumed it was some kind of adaptation or remake.

No.  What's it to me?

You must have really been pissed when Infamous came out after Capote.....   Anyone get hurt?   ;)

Good. But Michael Bay deserves special treatment. I say melt his Razzies down into gold plated bullets and "give" it to him that way. Oh, but save one for Steven Spielberg and graze his leg for hiring Bay in the first place.

I find the "LOLZ the movie is based on toys" tone of this weird when the loudest whining seems to be based on Bay not 'respecting the source material' and I assume there'd be a big crossover between the those people and the target audience of the Razzies.

...although I guess irony and being self-aware isn't important when you've got pwning to do.

I'll agree it was campy... but when they crack a joke, its suppose to be funny. I pretty much just groaned at the one liners. I think my favorite was the stupid bubble gum line. Nonsensical and unfunny. Take away the pretty explosions and you have a pretty bad movie. At least the ladies were easy on the eyes... oh and the ninja guy kicked ass.

Well, the two screenplays were being written at the same time...after The Genetic Opera had been a cult stage production for years.  Still reeks of ripoff when it comes to the whole Repo concept, but from the look of it the new one has a completely different plot.
