Whenever I try to gain access to my zip rifftrax files, the message in the subject line occurs. It suggests I try downloading the file again, which I've done with no success. I already have a working winzip program. Help?

They're not .zip files, they're .rar. Unless you're just using the terms interchangeably, you need Winrar. You can download it here: http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm

I already have winrar and I attempted to open the file with it. It gave me the same message.

Also, they clearly say .zip on my files page.

Then you may have the problem that some users have been having where your files are downloading to completion. Check the size of the file that is downloaded against what the size is on your files page. If that is not the problem, then send a message to this guy describing your problem. He'll either help you or tell you it is a known problem that is being worked on.

That must be it. The files on my computer are much bigger than the numbers shown on my file page. Is there anything I can do?

torgosPizza

I doubt they are that much bigger - only reason might be if you're on a Windows machine, sometimes the size that the website reports isn't 100% accurate.

Anyway, it's an issue with many users right now, not getting the entire file. You might just try downloading the file again. (Delete the old one first.)

I'm having a similar problem that this guy had. I decided to perchase my first RiffTrax commentary today (the one for the new Star Trek film). I made the purchase fine but my problem started when I tried to download it. The download would get to (roughly) 5% (500 somthing KB. . . or whatever) and then suddenly say "download complete". So I went "wow! That was quick!", tried to open the file and the I'm told "file cannot be opened due to file being incomplete/corrupted". So I try downloading it again. . . this time it gets to 6% then stuffs up. . . and so on and so on (but never finishing). So is this type of problem common or am I stuffed? If there are any solution I would be much obliged.
Hey! An ancient beer can! Oh. . .

I bought the recent Star Wars riff, and tried to download it at home.  My computer at home is still on a dial-up connection (since that option is free to me!), even though that's relatively slow these days.  When at home, I had the same problem as Watsonc1 reported.  It'd start downloading, it'd show a long estimate for how long the download would take, and then 5 minutes into the download it would claim the download was complete.  I tried it twice, the first time I got over 400-kb and the second time I got over 500-kb, but both of those are obviously far short of being complete.

I went into work and tried the download on a much faster connection, and had no trouble at all.

I'm having the same problems as the rest of you guys. We have to computers in the house, one with a usually really fast connection. I've been trying to download the Star Wars RiffTrax for about 2 hours now, with no success. I have noticed that the connection on the fast computer is actually sorta' crawling today. Do you think I should try later when it's faster?
Yeah? Well...you're a face!
