I just bought 8 new shorts.
Most of them seem to suffer badly from hard encoded interlacing which shows up as large
striped edges on large scene moving. luckily the mpeg2s dont seem to suffer. at least i can re-encode.

Better to check the settings before encoding guys.
keep up the riffs,

Which shorts did you get? I will check them in the morning, first thing.

Don't know how that happened as I check every single video file that I encode specifically for things like interlacing and other quality issues...but I have been away for a while, so hopefully it wasn't any of the really old or really new ones. :P Seriously though, thanks for the heads up.
Any issues with the RiffTrax main page should be directed to support@rifftrax.com Attempts to engage with me directly about such matters will result in ridicule.

Was a Circus Wakes Up done when you weren't around? There was some issues with the mpeg 2 on that one.

No, Casey just came back to us recently :)

No one has mentioned any interlacing issues now. Can anyone corroborate? We're also taking a look to see what's going on.

EDIT: I just personally looked at Night Before Christmas, and there's no interlacing for me at all... so at least the Christmas-themed ones should be fine since they all used the same settings. If you let us know what shorts you looked at we can fix the ones that are bad.

(There is a big pan in Night Before Christmas at 6:35 that is good for testing. Looked perfect even at full screen.)

Nope, that one wasn't me. torgo and I just checked the most recent batch of shorts and the DivX are fine...must be some of the older ones.
