Honest question: how was this that difficult for that many people?

I did not see how the address was displayed.  But it seems like there was essentially one word to remember, rifftrax.com/_______

How can we make it easier the next time?

I saw it, but then again I was actively looking for it because I knew it was coming at some point. A more casual viewer that wasn't watching the last segment/credits very closely might not have seen it. Unlike the Plan 9 showing, Mike didn't verbally make a reference to it and the Rifftrax screen saver at the end didn't mention it either. I remember being a little confused that there wasn't a password to type in like last time, but once I got home I realized they were giving people the digital goodies without the need of it. That was great, because it was one less thing to remember.

Have the prize winner hold up a sign?  Have them wear a t-shirt with the code word?

Maybe the Nestor Rifftrax counts as a short?

What he said.

Sounds like next time the address should be in a pre show slide, as well as prominently on the screen for the duration of the credits.

I thought they were going to be showing it in a lower third overlay a couple times during the broadcast.  That's why I found it surprising that people couldn't remember one word.

If it was more than once, it had to be in the first few minutes of the show that I missed....

Then the second time it just as the gift skit started...which I'd looked away from the screen because of someone who was getting up to leave near me.  A few seconds more and I would have missed it altogether.  I imagine that anyone in the theater I was in who was getting up to leave (and the people whose view they were blocking) didn't see it then either.

Bottom line....visual only ain't hacking it.

That....or it had to be a word with no variations....like "Lugosi" was.  "Rudolph", "Christmas", or "Santa".

Last thought....you know, there's a chance that some people (not me) may have imbibed before coming to the show..and that might have effected people's memories?

I only saw it once, at the very end after all the shorts and skits were over I believe.  Then it was also something I couldn't remember correctly as it turns out.  Yes, I think that having MKB make an announcement about it would be good and explain what it is (many in the audience who saw it probably had no idea what it was) and I also think one word would be better.

Also you should give me a free Rudolph VOD.   ;D

I saw the URL at the end, didn't see any others. My brother missed it because he was wiping the tears out of his eyes (pleasure or pain, I'm not sure) after Kevin's fishnet appearance.

There's so much going on at any given time it is pretty easy to miss

I did see the reference somewhere early in the show, and thought "that'll be easy to remember because of the first short".  But before heading home I got in a discussion with someone about Pixar movies, so when I got home I first tried:  www.rifftrax.com/toystory

(hey -- the first short WAS a story about toys!!)

I forget exactly where I noticed it, but I only saw the URL one time during the entire event.  I did eventually guess the correct name, and downloaded the items without needing any hints to remind me.

ShadowDog

I think just having Mike say it out loud like he did the first time would solve all the problems.  It went by so fast for me I only got a 1-2 second look at it and had jacked it up in my mind by the time I got home.  But an out loud statement to go along with the written text should do the trick.

I guess the rest of us who didn't get it were just morons then.  LMFAO

In our theater (Randolph, MA. Showcase Cinemas) it flashed on the screen for half a second during an ad for other Fathom events then at the end of the program for about 3 seconds.
